For over 500 years artists have designed thousands of ways to solve the 3 basic problems of a portrait in oil.

There are many techniques but, we can divide them into 2 types,
those that work by layers and those that work directly.
the first is known as "Glazing Tecnic" and the second as "A la prima".
In this course we are going to focus on the first, we will learn how to work by layers. and we will discover not only how to apply the different steps, But we will try to learn the principles behind these steps in a simple and concrete way.

she is fair and lovely but your colors are very hard so that she is also looking hard......... and another thing is no likeness.... Her forehead left side is small...... your painting forehead is even............and below right eye also not perfect.....

I don’t like the corse at all you are recording using time lapse and speak over too much .talking too match. what you are doing is not a course it’s chitchat even the sample he is drawing not looks like the model ,when you mentioned the specific colores you didn’t give the replacement . I need a refund

One of the biggest problems for me is the sub titles (closed captions). They are absolutely terrible and clearly no-one has checked them. I am hearing impaired and rely a lot on sub titles especially when , as in this case, the speaker has heavily accented English. A lot of the subtitles make no sense whatsoever and it makes it really hard to follow the advice of the tutor. I am really not impressed.

I have never painted a portrait, I get lost a bit re shadows and matching colors, maybe I just don't see what you see so easily.

Wow! This instructor is so good at creating 3 dimensional structures, that it blows me away. This is exactly what I was missing and needed in my drawings and paintings as a self taught artist who began drawing after I retired at the age of 65.

There was a lot of good information within this course. The only thing that reduced it from 4 stars was the background music. The background music volume level was very inconsistent, at times interfering with the artist’s words. But much worse than that, on many segments the background music volume was increased after the artist had finished speaking. And when I say increased I mean blasted.

Course was not very helpful. When painting the face, the tutor does not explain what colours he is using and blending. It was more an anatomy class than a painting class! He does not explain the proportions of the eyes, nose and mouth relative t the face. Part 3 of section one is an advert for his books!
The bonus section ( section 3) is just a presentation in how HE draws a face in pencil. Drawing the same size of the photo. Does not explain what you can do if you have a smaller photo which you would like to enlarge!
Rather disappointing course. You can learn much more by watching YouTube!

This is easily the best “sketch to complete oil portrait-painting course” I have seen on this site. However, the inability for the tutor’s comments to be accurately represented in the captions really lets down this course, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed and have learnt a great deal. Please sought out the transcripts and ensure the instructions are the tutor’s exact representation and this could easily turn out to be the best oil portrait-painting tutorial, as the tutor is really very knowledgeable!
