Why take this course?

This course is targeted at beginners and intermediate level students.

It covers the fundamentals of audio synthesis.

The software being used is Ableton Live Suite’s Analog and Operator Synthesizers, but the underlying concepts are transferable to the majority of other software and hardware synthesizers on the market.

The course is structured progressively, covering all the building blocks and different methods of synthesis commonly used.

Throughout the course there are animations demonstrating the concepts visually, so you can see as well hear the sound.

There are also example patches available to download that cover common types of sounds such as basses, leads and pads.

Great course. Explains everything I needed to know about Synthesis. I have created my own sounds already. This adds to the satisfaction of creating your own music from start to finish!

It is a good course. The advantage of that course over let's say, a free tutorial on youtube would be: (1) the instructor know exactly where he is going (there is no trying a million things at the same time to confuse you), the course is prepared and he knows where to go. (2) screen magnifying (help a lot to see what he is doing).

Great course for just starting to learn synthesis. Ben is very clear with terminology and also mentions alternative terminologies which is very helpful when dealing with different synths. Without explicit saying it Ben demonstrates how important it is to play around with synthesizers to really start to learn how to create sounds from scratch whilst at the same time he mentions many tips and gives lots of practical and fun examples. Not only did those examples inspire me but they also reinforced most of the theory in the course both at a practical and auditory level.
