Learn the fundamentals of an effective game startup team
This course teaches you about the people needed to form a game company, and keeping expectations in sync with reality. You will get theory and hands-on tips about team composition and team dynamics, applied to startups in the games industry. Most startups are small in size and generally are founded due to a shared passion for games. As an independent game developer, you are making a game and have to run a business at the same time, which is a huge challenge. There’s not one answer why some teams are successful, and why some fail. What makes a team successful is a complex set of variables, which we are going to dive into to help you on your way.
This course combines theory with experience, and provides you with practical examples through interviews with successful game studios. You see how studios formed their team and why it worked (or not), the influence that personalities have on the production, how they handle decision-making, and the balance of creativity vs business.
This course includes interviews with:

Not a good match for me - coming from a project management background, I wanted more of a class that focused on the types of roles one would need to start/create an effective videogame studio team and less about the interactions between people on the team.
The content of this course is not as deep to be useful for those who already started their video game studio, also the mayor part of the videos are interviews of founders, so be ware that there is not so much theory but opinions.
Content is presented in easy to process chunks, easy to understand and in uncomplicated language. Ideal for people who are just starting out on their journey to exploring this industry sector and wanting to familiarise themselves with the basics. The interviews provide a lot of insight and you'll discover common themes between all. Don't stop here, do your research on the internet, as there is a lot of information out there. For me this course reiterated the fundamentals - always good to know I wasn't seeing what I just wanted to see or hear.
Learnt a lot about the business side of things required to run a game studio from this course. Would highly recommend it for people who want to start a game studio of their own.
All the fundamentals ideas of building a company or a game studio is on this course, a great course by the way.
Clear explanation of the roles within a game company. Interesting examples of well-known Dutch Indie game companies.
Easy to understand, nice subsections that are not to big to comprehend. Very relevant for starting game comapanies I think.
