VERY old, and has a lot of technical stuff. I wanted to know how to start and run the business, not how to set up a PBX.

All the resources i can not download a single file.I think you need to update your materials to be up to date with what is available in VOIP for year 2021.You did not mention where to source for Polycom phone,IF I want to install cloud PBX how do i go about that.The only thing is if my client wants an on site PBX.

This is a very well thought out, well delivered course which as near as possible delivers on its its title. With a little pre-knowledge of IP based data networks I had previously attempted to set up an Asterisk based PBX from the basics using various guides from the Internet. After a while I had abandoned the task through lack of time and frustration. Jon successfully shows how to set up an Asterisk PBX in simple, easy to follow steps using widely available (and cheap) hardware and free to download, pre-packaged software (AST-Linux). Be aware that this course takes you to the point of having a working PBX. You will need to find other resources (Jon has a course on Asterisk call plans!) to get a fuller understanding of how to maintain and further configure the Asterisk PBX box. Jon is very quick to answer any questions you might have. You are left thinking at the end of the course "I could make a business out of this". I am now going to move onto Jon's other course "Asterisk Made Easy: Learn to Install Asterisk and Linux" which approaches the same subject but in a more "from the bottom up" approach.
Take this course, you will not regret it!

If you are curious about setting up and configuring a small Asterisk/Linux VoIP PBX using ASTLinux, this is a great course. Jon talks about acquiring the preconfigured image and installing it on some common inexpensive hardware. He spends time talking about and giving advice on the hardware to use, how to install the image and configure the phone with a common VoIP service provider. Jon is easy to listen to and follow, and presents the course in a series of simple steps. The only downside on the course is the selling of the service that you could offer. It is talked about but your ability to rely on the information to quit your job will vary drastically based on your people and sales skills. With all the said, I found the course to be great for setting up Asterisk Appliances still well worth the time.

VOIP has a lot of gotcha's. An on-site PBX eliminates a significant number of potential headaches and Jon does an excellent job of guiding you through as bullet-proof of a setup as I've seen. I also highly recommend his Asterisk Made Easy course here on Udemy.
VOIP is a hot, growing commodity with small to mid-sized businesses right now. It's very easy to sell the first few customers. One big caveat though, you're selling phone service and there isn't any business out there that's going to tolerate poor quality service. Screw up your first customers and they'll be the last ones you get.
Your best bet for success is to study these courses carefully. They give a great foundation. Then, do all the reading you can.

Followed the steps, and now have a working PBX. I had next to zero knowledge about how to accomplish this before taking the course. The few "issues" I had were self-inflicted by not following the instruction exactly as taught.
