Why take this course?

A data warehouse is the central repository of information for data analysis, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Data flows from different data sources like transactional databases. The data is also updated regularly to make informed decisions on time.

Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. As a database server, it is a software product with the primary function of storing and retrieving data as requested by other software applications—which may run either on the same computer or on another computer across a network .

SQL Server Integration Services is a component of the Microsoft SQL Server database software that can be used to perform a broad range of data migration tasks. SSIS is a platform for data integration and workflow applications. It features a data warehousing tool used for data extraction, transformation, and loading.

SQL Server Reporting Services is a server-based report generating software system from Microsoft. It is part of a suite of Microsoft SQL Server services, including SSAS and SSIS. Administered via a Web interface, it can be used to prepare and deliver a variety of interactive and printed reports.

Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services is an online analytical processing and data mining tool in Microsoft SQL Server. SSAS is used as a tool by organizations to analyze and make sense of information possibly spread out across multiple databases, or in disparate tables or files.

ETL is a process that extracts, transforms, and loads data from multiple sources to a data warehouse or other unified data repository.

This course has apparently been updated a number of times since at least 2012-2014 with the addition of new slides that may have replaced old slides stitching it all together. There is too much back & forth between old content and newer content. We then are also instructed to install SQL Developer but then parts of this course require the full SQL version to get things to work which is unfortunate. Conceptually, I think the content overall is good but this course needs to be completely updated from scratch to make it into a cohesive and easier to follow course. I also could not get various portions of it to work correctly even by following the videos but that could be my error and the content of this course has so many interconnected applications and extensions that it would be very easy to miss one step and not get it to work.
