Wonderful conscientious experience. One suggestion: as you end, don’t ask the subject to note their current level of anxiety compared to their original anxiety. Avoid using the word “anxiety” at all. Too suggestive & can bring them right back to an anxious state. Rather, say something like “notice how you feel now and how you felt when you first came in.” “Notice your breath may be more relaxed - longer inhales, longer exhales.” The sound healer can trust that the subject has experienced SOMETHING personal - probably or hopefully a release of anxiety and stress - but healer should not ever assume anything about a subject’s experience. And especially at the end of a session, the healer should never use negative, loaded words like “anxiety” to suggest the subject’s experience to them. One student of mine told me that when I was leading a guided relaxation and I said, “forget about your ‘To-Do’ list”. All I accomplished was to remind her that she had a long to do list and it completely pulled her out of the relaxation. She really opened my eyes to how powerful words are and that less is more.
