To start off with this course, I would like to answer one super important question.

How good do you need to be in sketching and drawing to be able to do decent animation?

The answer is:

You have to be decent at drawing.

Notice that I didn’t say you have to be the best, or you have to be very very good, no. You just have to be decent.

How can you be decent?

With a bit of practice.

As a disclaimer, I’m not a great artist, I’m not very good at drawing myself, I’m just decent, and that’s good for animation.

You will see for yourself in the following lessons, so if you are super passionate about drawing, you have some practice and want to take your drawing skills to the next level, then I’m not your guy, and this course is not for you.

Maybe you can get some value and some useful tips, but in general this course is not directed to you.

It was a really good course in providing a starting point into sketching and improving my perspective skills. I think it's perfect for animators and motion graphics artists that struggle with story boarding, sharing ideas visually or just trying out things for themself and have no background in drawing or illustration.

The lessons are compact and straightforward with a lot of good ideas and useful concepts. I recommend this course if you really want to start drawing. And don't forget to do the exercises!

well, I first I was thinking that after this course I'll be able to draw things flawlessly or at least close to perfection lol. But this one has a very enlightening videos where you can know the basics with drawing that you can actually apply especially if you are a complete beginner :)

Excellent job laying down the foundation of the core concepts of 2D sketching and drawing! Drawing in 3D using the cube is awesome, and he did a great job demonstrating it! Awesome course!

Working on Photoshop is another thing. The orientation was a bit short of making the client aware of the importance of the drawing tools in animation. Yes, drawing a hundred times will benefit the budding artist. But obviously one has to go another hundred drawings -because art is a lifetime practice. Generally the course is worth spending some hours watching. Please be aware of "okay?", "alright?", and "very, very..." in your dialogue. It is quiet distracting (me, and I hope it's only me). Generally, the course is good.

As a refresher course or someone starting out, this course is ideal to learn or brush up on key fundamentals and get started quick. Then you can move onto more advanced courses is the specific areas of drawing you want to focus on. I found the drawing characters and hand in 3D very useful, plus the posing in 2D. I did think more on character design could be covered, however thinking about it, what is covered fulfils the course aims/brief.
