Why take this course?

Oracle's SOA Suite 12c product is the leading enterprise SOA development and integration platform on the market today. Oracle SOA Suite allows organizations to build reusable business services, integrations, and model business processes rapidly using the latest industry standards such as SCA, BPEL, SOAP and REST.

A traditional enterprise deployment of Oracle SOA 12c requires an enterprise database deployment (read: NO MYSQL or similar support) along with a distributed deployment. Such a deployment is overkill and unnecessary to build a development or proof of concept environment.

In this course, you will learn how to use the Quick Start distribution to stand up an Oracle SOA 12c development environment rather than spending hours installing the full distribution. You will learn where to find the Quick Start distribution and how to install and create a SOA domain. Lastly, I will show you how to launch and connect JDeveloper to a SOA domain.

It was clear in each topic, perfectly explained. Only maybe the order of topics in Section 2, "Install on Windows" could be bettter before to "Create SOA Domain". Also, the "Lab # 3", could be better after "Create SOA Domain".

It's only about installing and running the programs, not the actual functions of them. His "prerequisites" for the course were the exact same thing, just for Weblogic instead. Waste of time - this can and is already online.

overall very good- you should tell students to rename /usr/bin/java to old and amend the paths to use oracle JDK java

Disappointing! .. the instructor did not give a single concept or theory, not even gave a definition of SOA ,or of any components ... yet had too long descriptions and short-talks ... instructor was very long-winded.

Perhaps because this is a free course, the material coverage is not too comprehensive. And unfortunately only covers in installation process (although the installation itself also only covers quick guide not including the compact mode), not for creating services, which was the fundamental of SOA is obvious create services.

This is not really a "Start on SOA" guide so much as it is "Install weblogic and open JDeveloper" guide. It ends the minute you actually begin to interact with SOA. That said, the steps were very clearly explained and the instructor is very knowledgeable.
