What you will learn

In this course, students will get master the user interface, parametric sketching, sketch constraints, feature tools and modifying tools of Onshape.

Why take this course?

All 3D Parametric modeling packages requires a great deal of 2D sketching and sketch constraints in part creation.

Some of the key takeaways in this Onshape essentials course are:
• You will gain understanding of 2D sketching
• Mastery of sketch constraints
• Follow along with highly detailed light to moderate instruction.
• Course Exercise Files included in the lecture to assist you in part creation process.
• Level up to assembly and free-form modeling with high confidence that you have mastered the very fundamentals of part creation.

Why master 2D sketching?

In the context of CAD, all 3D parametric objects usually starts out as 2D sketches.
When creating technical drawings your 2D sketches ends up very similar to your final drawings.
2D sketches holds the very foundation of your 3D model and 2D drawings.

Why master sketch constraints?

Constraints are the tools that binds and reinforces your sketched geometry.
In a typical machine, constraints are like the nuts and bolts the holds the assembly together.
Without constraints all of our sketched geometries are loose and unstable.

By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation on 2D sketching, mastery of sketch contraints and parametric part creation in Onshape.

Great introduction to OnShape. The course teaches you through practical examples of implementing real parts, but the conclusions of why it is done a particular way is up to you to discover.

does not really explain how the tools work, you learn but seeing him using it over and over, but there is no theoretical explanation offered ever

This course showed how to sketch specific parts, but did not do a good job of providing a comprehensive overview of the tools available in onshape. Basically, just repeated a few very basic drawings to create features. The learning center in onshape has more videos that teach the user how the program works.

Excellent match. Fast and effective, lots of measurable progress. Very little is explained in any kind of detail. He does great step-by-step instructions, but very little explanation. Still worth it.

I thought this was a course for beginners. Constraints, isometrics, etc. are not explained and mean nothing to me.

This is a good introductory course for OnShape. I have prior experience with Autocad, SolidWork, and some PTC (Creo, Pro/E). I started using OnShape because it was accessible as a Web App and an iPad App. I find the instructor to be relatively clear, well paced (a little slow for me, but probably appropriate for beginners). When you are done, you will be comfortable navigating OnShape and finding all of the commands to sketch, extrude, and revolve parts.

As a complete beginner I would like the steps we are taking to be explained more. I get what we are doing, but not why we are doing them.

It was an amazing course. He went through all the steps for us to understand what he did to make the part.

That was an amazing course. u can call this course from zero to hero in Onshape. u don't have to imply some parts of the lesson due to the new versions of Onshape, however that doesn't mean if you do that it would be wrong cause in new version it's kind of easier to use tools. thanks a lot for your amazing course , hope you will have some courses on FE simulations in near future.

he doesn't explain what some of the features do that he is toggling inside of the commands he is using. There is no explanation really of "why" he uses the steps he uses. It's basically just follow along without a deeper understanding.

whole course is teach by doing, using shortprojects of increasing difficulty. showing practical application is much more effective than just explainging how things work.

I found this course to be a great introduction to using Onshape, which will be a very useful stepping stone to more advanced concepts. Very clear instructions and easy to follow. Great instructor.

This course teaches many handy tips and tricks in Onshape. One of the best online courses to learn. By taking the course you will learn much more about Onshape parametric modeling.

I like the way the teachers jumped right in and did go into a lot of explaining. I can see by doing and practicing what the teacher just showed me.

Just the right amount of info at the right places. Not so much it gets annoying, but often enough to make it stick. Just a few tiny things where he does not mention why he does what he does. Learned a lot from this one. Nice job.
