Welcome to Master Discrete Math!

This is a course designed to help you master the difficult topics of Discrete Math and get you prepared for a career in computer science, actuarial science, mathematics, or even engineering! I have been tutoring for many years and my students have had great experiences with my teaching methods!

Here's what students who have taken this course have had to say:

I got this course originally to review material for my final, and the instructor is very clear in his videos. I wish I had this at the beginning of the semester! - Jessica, Udemy Student

Easy to understand, Concepts are well explained and demonstrated. - Jeremy, Udemy Student

Great course on Discrete Math. The practice questions are a big help! - Bridgette, Udemy Student

This Master Discrete Math Course includes over 30 lectures that will introduce students to many topics including sets and their properties, advanced counting techniques (combinations/permutations), mathematical logic, and graph theory. The students' progress will be measured along the way through practice videos and quizzes that contain examples following almost every new topic. This course can be broken into a few key categories:

  1. Set Theory: Students will leave this course understanding what sets are, the nuances of sets, and how to find power sets.

  2. Mathematical Logic: After this course students students will understand mathematical logic and truth tables. They will learn the many logic laws that help computers run complex algorithms while also learning how to solve basic proofs using truth tables.

  3. Advanced Counting Techniques: Students will learn the advanced counting techniques used by poker players and statisticians that help them analyze complex problems. Students will be exposed to the sum and product principles along with the combination and permutation formulas. There will be an abundance of practice problems in this section due to its difficulty!

  4. Mathematical Proofs: Students will learn the foundations of writing mathematical proofs. We will discuss the many different methods of mathematical proofs and go through many examples. This section is often important as you go into other math classes that can be very proof heavy.

  5. Graph Theory: We finish the course with a section on graph theory. Graph theory is a huge and important part of mathematics that we begin to scratch the surface on in this course. Students will begin to see the wide ranging applications of graph theory when they learn about Euler and Hamilton paths/circuits, complete/bipartite graphs, and more.

This course does not suffice in helping you master discrete math, hence the main reason for the low score. However, the explanations and examples provided are really good, and that alone made getting this course worthwhile for me.

Additional, do-on-your-own, practice problems for applying the logic laws covered in section 2 would be helpful. The instructor knows his stuff, and I don't want to be overly critical, but his presentation style could certainly use some polishing. Instead of sounding like a professional adult instructor his demeanor is more like that of a put-upon high school GAT kid. He mumbles and speaks too quickly, often stumbling over his words, which interrupts the flow of the material being presented. He also continues to use the word "Well..." ad nauseam, which has a bit of a patronizing tone.

It was a good refresher of concepts from both high school and college and a great introduction to mathematical proofs.

Great course! Helped me to understand loud and clear and prepared for lectures. Some examples that he used showed up on my exams.

Very clear and concise! Definitely helped to break down challenging topics and model how to solve theories.

Thank you! you saved my grades and allowed me to understand better the theory and all the methodology to solve the problems. I wish you had a course on Turing Machines, regular expressions and more.

It's Simple Introduction to Discrete Mathematics. However, I think it isn't enough to master discrete mathematics.

My maths background comes from another era, where discrete mathematics was barely taught. This is explained very clearly and precisely. Thank you.

I have been taking a Discrete Mathematics course in college, and to be frank, my professor is not good at teaching the subject at all. He talks as if we already understand the topic and glances over the things he tests us on. This course is really easy to understand and is making me much more confident in understanding Discrete Mathematics.

really glad senior leadership hasn't figured out there are math classes because I am having so much fun taking these classes!

The topics so far are explained in an easy to understand way. I like the instructor because he breaks everything down. However, I don’t really like when it’s assumed that you have background knowledge on topics without giving a quick refresher or listing any prerequisite knowledge in the course description. Especially for an Udemy course, as I feel like many people haven’t taken foundational courses in years.

I bought the course because it was advertised as the most complete on udemy, but saw quickly that it wasn't going to be enough for a university exam. At least in Europe it won't suffice. Idk about the Yankee community colleges tho. Maybe it's enough there.

Excellent course. I am concerned there were no quizzes in Section one: Set Theory, Set Operations to Functions to Cartesian Products, and I also do not see any PDF's supportive of any section/substantive concept(s) --> Elephant in the room.
