In this course, the members challenge themselves to create original manga based on the Japanese folklore, "Momotaro".
We had Kei Natsumi-sensei, a manga artist, draw a sample manga called "Nekotaro" and they use it as a reference in our lectures.

Liked the information, but the inking technique seems a bit dated as most illustrations are now digital or a combo of both. I am glad that they had a little more information in the second section that included a few techniques, but would have liked more.

Une bonne formation qui donne des astuces sur la façon de s'organiser, surtout dans la mise en place des couches de dessin. J'aurais par contre aimé avoir plus de précision du côté de l'encrage des cheveux et des bords pour avoir un effet de relief.

It explores on creating manuscript in both traditional double spread manga and also in digital vertical scrolling manner. Two lecturers with different teaching styles which both I found very clear in delivering useful tips and basic concepts on how to doing them yourself with plenty of resources to refer on. Enjoyed it throughout and I love it!

I feel like you get more out of Section 1: Manuscript than you do with Section 2: Vertical-Scrolling Manga. Vertical manga is supposed to be easier to read for the viewer. The examples shown in the video were very cluttered and went against what most highly successful Webtoon artists suggest. It lacked in helpful suggestions such as how to pace your vertical manga, the different types of panels and shapes you can use, and overall placements of panels. I would suggest getting the course only if you are interested in learning about making a traditional styled manga. If you want to learn more about making a vertical manga, I would suggest checking out Youtube videos from successful Webtoon artists such as “Archie The RedCat”.
