LUA Programming Course: A Path to your career in LUA

Quality of sound is the major issue. Loud background noises and other disturbing sounds does not help in listening. And listening is quite hard even without it. Had an impression I'm listening to someone who is reading pages from manual.

The course audio is pretty terrible. The speaker is a bit difficult to understand at times, and you get random white noise coming up throughout a majority of the video lectures. Would recommend just watching a free YouTube video or purchasing another course.

I can't understand the instructor at all. English is not her first language. Even as a second language, she is not clear enough to be understood. I really am disappointed. I had to eventually turn off the audio and just read the slides. I could have gotten this from a book. No added value for this presentation. Full of errors in grammar, popping and static-filled audio, and she corrected herself in examples without any note to the user. She also created examples without explaining what she was doing, she just showed the result. I paid for this so I sat through it, but it was awful. If I could give 0 or negative stars, I would. Really bad Udemy, she might be a programmer, but she is NOT a teacher.

So far it feels like a lot of the course video time is spent reading what’s on the slides, which for me just kills a minute of my time I could be learning something. Information seems to be sound.

This is normally how I learn to code, so yes, this course was a good buy. Of course, i bought it using the discount, but hey, at least i can get a solid basis on learning programming languages.

Let me preface this by saying that I'm evaluating this in the context that this is paid content and that things like Youtube exists. Anyway, let's start with the good: If you're reasonably versed in programming you'll find that the content of this course is what you need to get a good overview of the language in general. If it was a tutorial series on Youtube I'd hit the like button for the content itself, but not much else. The examples are also decent, it cleared up most of the questions I had after the theoretical bit. The bad: The delivery ruins the product. It's basically just a lecturer reading the words printed on the slides while hardly giving any in-depth commentary on the side. It's incredibly monotone, it's choppy, the microphone is all over the place, in many videos it gets progressively worse until you barely hear the lecturer, only to become crystal clear at the start of the next video, rinse repeat. Headphone users be warned - some parts basically explode in volume compared to the rest of the video. There's also horns, sirens and other nuisances in the background. This course offers nothing more than your average youtube video, if this was my first impression of Udemy's content I'd be really hard to convince to give it another go. Compared to other courses I've bought it's hard to put into words how disappointing this was, I've filed for a refund. I also bought at 92% discount, even then it's a complete ripoff. I feel mean, but at the same time I'm just dumbfounded that this is paid content and not some Youtube series.
