Legal Research Skills is considered as a fundamental and core skill for the law students and budding lawyers. More and more law schools are concerned about developing this skill for their students at the initial stages of their legal studies.

This 'ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE LEGAL RESEARCH' course is aimed at the law students undertaking their undergraduate or postgraduate law courses anywhere in the world in any jurisdiction. The course teaches essential and practical legal research skills you need right from the start of your legal career through to the completion of it (I hope that is retirement from your professional life if you wish so!).

The course discusses strategies for undertaking legal research for a particular assignment and discusses, supports and encourages well established practices and practical approaches towards carrying out effective legal research. The course covers all stages of the legal research; from the point when a student or a lawyer is handed an assignment through to presenting the final findings of the research to the tutor or supervisor.

I have been involved in carrying out legal research extensively during my postgraduate degrees and then in my legal practice for around seven years in total. The course also reflects my personal experience of undertaking legal research and working at a law firm ranked in 'Chambers and Partners', the organisation that identifies and ranks the most outstanding law firms and lawyers in over 180 jurisdictions throughout the world.

The course also includes useful Latin terms, abbreviations, practitioners' texts and contains wide range of invaluable and free online resources which will be helpful in finding relevant resources for research purposes. The resources include material from independent organisations and also include resources from number of legal jurisdictions for you to explore them further.

It seems to provide good foundation information, but I am left wondering if this is specific to the the UK/ England or can this also be applicable to the US, as I am a US law student.....that part should be made clear, given the England references.

I feel the course was okay - If he had attached a sample and not an empty template of a research report highlighting the processes that he taught, it would have made much sense for reference purposes.

Thanking Mr. Hussain for this amazing course, the only concern I have is that it would be helpful to add in a few points for law students working on dissertation projects or legal research papers, which is what I initially intended to learn about. Nevertheless, this was an amazing experience and by the end of it, I feel much closer to knowing what I have to do while dealing with a legal issue and how to research around that topic.

It provides the basics but doesn't show you examples of how the legal research was conducted step by step. It was still somewhat useful however if you are a university student you are better of booking an appointment with the librarian.

Good resources at the end, but I only wish there were more in depth examples. Actually researching a topic on a topic that may not be readily found, and how relevant terms would be found when the legal term is not known. Specific examples where you walk us through a problem that you will help us solve would be so much more practical and applicable.

A fantastic little course. I would have enjoyed a few practical examples maybe, or even a small quiz to test understanding. Loved the glossaries at the end, they have really helped refresh my memory. Will be using this course again! Thank you.

First few slides are really common sense in my opinion. Felt like it all could have been consolidated into 1 slide. The rest of the instructions were pretty practical and a little helpful for conceptualizing the legal research approach. Since I am in U.S., the course isn't directly relevant because it is focuses on U.K. primary and secondary sources, but the general information is still a good start.
