Some improvements could really add some value to this level of content. But I like the clear explanations and the clear thought process. Keep going Mikael!

He talks in a slow pace and I guess that's nice for beginners. I have several side chain pluggins and most DAW's provide some. But I expected him to give some tips in one the starting videos which plugins provide side chaining and what he would recommend.. Now people have google it themselfs.. That being said I recommend Fabfilter Pro-C (you click on the "expert" button to side chain. Have fun!

Mike is a great teacher, full of enthusiasm and although I sort of understood sidechaining he explained it and showed how to do it very easily. The bonus tip was also helpful as I didn't know about that trick at all. I joined his Music Makers group on Facebook too. Highly recommended.

Mike, Thank you sooo much for your gift... It isn't often that people give knowledge for free. I know your tips on side chain compression will help my music, and I will use it on my next track that I post to youtube@children of legacy music group. My music will change the world because it's not the beats that are bad for young ears, it's the content sang or spoke over the beats. Thanks again and God bless, from David Mitchell in Lancaster California.

Very good. Since I'm new to the DAW world, I've bookmarked the course as a resource I can return to whenever I have the need for sidechain compression.

Mikael provides a good overview on sidechain compression and this can be easily applied with any DAW - he uses Logic Pro X here. On occasion I find his style a little over-engaging but then again it is better than being demotivated. Overall I would recommend this course to newcomers to sidechain compression.

1. Simple explanation 2. To the point demonstration Good stuff to enroll in if you are an absolute beginner in music production.

While the series is informative in the technical sense, this is not a concept that warrants 30 minutes of total time. You tended to spend way too much time explaining very simple concepts in as long a way as possible, but ended up leaving each video without much to learn. A better use of your time would have been to explain what sidechaining is in the first video. The next video would be demonstrating how to set up a sidechain compressor as well as explaining what certain keywords are and what they do, such as ratios and thresholds. After that, what would have been nice to see is not only a demonstration of what it sounds like, but the theoretical aspect behind sidechaining as well. You focused on kicks and bases, but that's really just the simplest, least meaningful use of sidechain. Anyone can spend 3 minutes on YouTube and learn how a sidechain compressor works and can have their bass ducking in another minute. Talk about sidechaining non-kick elements into each other. Talk about overlaying vocals and making them clear; which tracks should and shouldn't have sidechain depending on what your lead sound is. Give an example of a STUDIO QUALITY mix that sounds muddy and then show people how you use sidechain to help clean it up. Don't just show people how to duck a bass with a kick. I gave you 3 stars because, at the end of the day, you told people how to use sidechain. You got the minimum bare essentials in your course, regardless of how verbose. You can stand to improve on your delivery: not speaking and explaining things as though your audience can't even tie their shoe laces. The actual substance is severely lacking in depth. Overall, my biggest critique was that you spent 30 minutes explaining what a 16-year-old with a pirated copy of Ableton could in 3.

Mike's delivery style is laid-back easy to understand. Coincidently I have the same DAW and therefore I can see exactly what he's recommending.
