How to Build Basic Apps With TKinter and Python

Download and Install Python

Create Executable .exe Apps

Why take this course?

In this course I'll teach you how  to make graphical user interfaces for Python using TKinter.  You'll be surprised just how quickly you can create some pretty cool looking apps!

I'll show you the ins and outs of tKinter, and then I'll show you how to package your app as an .exe file that you can share with others!

We'll start out by learning all about the main TKinter widgets.  Everything in tKinter is a widget...from labels, to buttons, input boxes, and more.

After we've learned all the major Widgets, we'll build a fun Math Flashcard app.  Our app will have addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division flashcards.

If you've ever wanted to create GUI apps with Python, this is the course for you!

Exactamente lo que buscaba, aunque para sacarle buen provecho creo que es importante ya saber un poco de Python de antemano.

John Elder does an amazing job of breaking down Tkinter into bite-sized pieces, which makes it easy to not only follow his examples, but also implement these ideas into your own projects.

Yes, just what I wanted and expected. John also responds personally and quickly to my queries and so far has answered them all satisfactorily.

As a person who knew nothing starting this video, I feel like I know basics now. I love following John, he explains everything pretty good.

Good, useful course: Comments (at July 2021): * Sublime text has too many nag messages to buy a license and at $99 that's too much for a text editor. * PIL is not universally available, I got "ERROR: No matching distribution found for PIL". I went back one version of python (from 3.9 to 3.8) to find a working version.

Started off with saying that .pack() is a normalise way to do things, then pointed out that .grid() is a better way to managed the displaying of buttons/boxes but throughout the course he guide using the pack method. also part of the course for selectors for checkbox, he did not properly guide that each of the selector must be unique and cannot be shared, there is also no example to multiple checkboxes. lecturer also did not use proper coding term and denotation, the way it was created is pretty much mediocre programming compared to other lecturer you find in udemy. example were using V as variables which is not recommended in programming unless you are doing a for loop or such whereby its a temporary variable, even for that, its should be standardise like for sum in numbers etc. instead of for x in y. not recommended lecturer also call List as dictionary..

Great instructor who break the video in a small section, which can easily understand. It is an awesome experience. Great job.

I have learned a lot. However, the constant use of the word "THING" to refer to any element from a variable to a python library to a dialog box detracts from the quality of the course, and makes it confusing to follow each video clearly and unambiguously. Vocabulary is so important when teaching.

Not for the serious developer. Not well organized or thought out. When I emailed the instructor with some comments, he was flippant and said the course wasn't designed for me, only for beginners. The tech field is vast and I have taken other beginner courses in areas where I was not experienced. I never had a problem with those courses.

Very clear instructions, videos are short and full of useful information. The whole course covered everything that I wanted to learn and more.

I love how the instructor keeps things simple and the videos short. I don't have a high speed internet connection so it will take me 15 minutes to go through a 5 minute video because of buffering. That being said I can deal with small chunks. He does go a little fast but that is the nature of online classes and thankfully there is a pause button to be able to keep up.

This was a good introduction to TKinter. I would have benefited from some set exercises throughout the course to help consolidate the learning.
