Some good and some not-so-good elements to the course. It is mainly a series of slides, some with animations and a voiceover which seems disconnected and just going from a script. The strange pronunciation 'GAMM-iff-ikation' is offputting and suggests the speaker is unfamiliar with the subject.

The course offers plenty of useful information and insights and provides the guidance for implementing your own gamification elements.

After reading Karl's book and field book on Gamification, I was curious as to the contents of this course. While not as meaty as the books, this is a great overview of what gamification is and how to get started. I recommend this course for anyone getting started in gamification.

Nicely presented and well layed out. It presents the key applications of gamification well. I do think that some elements could be improved. There are customers, like me, that run from rewards systems that encourage too much consumption or addiction. Rewards need to be more carefully crafted in my opinion. If you don't want to scare away customers, one thing you can do is give them a reward that has nothing to do with your customers giving you more and more money... Sometimes you have to let the foot off the gas and just give them surprises! That wasn't mentioned much. Randomization was mentioned and lottery but surprises help too - it works for me. Sometimes I don't want to be told what I have to do to get a free coffee. It's nice to just get some random reward from the barista that they can know about and I don't. That helps. It's nice to know that there's some element of genuine regard for your loyalty. Maybe it's because I'm European but we prefer a bit of sincerity too. It's not all about fleecing the customer for every penny, and you can gain longer term loyalty with a bit of kindness too.
