Drafting International Contracts in English

The contractual relationship is one of the foundations upon which modern society and the greater economy are built, but the nature of this relationship can be both complex and confusing regarding transnational transactions. This course seeks to demystify how contract law principles govern the fundamental relationship between the parties of international contracts.

This course presents the knowledge and skills required for contract drafting, analysis, and strategy in an international setting.

The objectives of this course are for each student to:

- Develop how to select and use contract templates to his/her advantage.

- Demonstrate proficiency in revising various types of contracts.

- Draft contracts and clauses precisely, comprehensibly, and in an easy-to-follow manner.

- Adapt drafting style based on the client’s requirements and the parties’ relationship.

- Draft to cover the needs and concerns of his/her client.

- Draft effectively by asking the right questions and anticipating potential practical problems.

The course consists of video lectures and in-depth articles, and at the end of the course, you will find several assignments for assessment purposes.

The course provides useful tips for governmental contracts, drafting strategies, and linguistic accuracy. Generally, you can directly apply the concepts and skills you will learn during the course to any international contract, even if the government is a party thereto.
