  1. DBT Skills training is made up of four modules: core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. They are designed to specifically assist individuals in better-managing behaviours, emotions and thoughts.

  2. The intent of DBT is to help people who experience problems with anger or the expression of anger, episodic depression, irritability or anxiety, intense or chaotic relationships, impulsivity, stress, and feelings of emptiness

  3. DBT has also been useful for bipolar disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder and suicidal thoughts

In this course, you will be trained to use various techniques for the problems mentioned above. Along with in-depth theory and practical examples, you will be given PRINTABLE WORKSHEETS to get you started. You can recreate these worksheets under your brand and share them with your clients

After completing this course you will be able to use in DBT your existing practice for various mental health issues.

The four broad categories of DBT which will be explored in this training are as below

  1. Distress Tolerance develops acceptance of the current situation as well as crisis survival skills to decrease the likelihood of engaging in problematic behaviour

  2. Self Soothing Skills are a way in which we treat ourselves to feelings of betterment so that we can move forward, past any negativity or pain

  3. Emotion Regulation skills include learning to identify and label current emotions, identifying obstacles to changing emotions, reducing emotional reactivity, increasing positive emotions and changing emotions.

  4. Core Mindfulness teaches a person how to focus their mind and attention

  5. Interpersonal Effectiveness skills teach helpful strategies for asking for what one needs, saying no, and coping with interpersonal conflict

The course provided a vast information that I will apply to my interaction with my clients. The author needs to lessen the amount of self-disclosure and focus on teaching of the subject matter.

Expecting your partner to treat you well is "unrealistic"? People with highly sensitive feelings are "sissies"? We only want rational people in our lives? Some of Aman's generalizations get lost in the sauce. The more Aman goes off on his tangents, the more some of his generalizations judging his view of humanity make me raise an eyebrow. He's supposed to be a DBT therapist, but he spends almost no time talking about practicing as a DBT therapist or relating his teachings to DBT practice. It seems like Aman used "DBT" as a platform to preach about his own personal beliefs on meditation and other concepts tangential to DBT, not just focusing on DBT as advertised. Meditation and mindfulness are important aspects of DBT therapy, sure, but I didn't buy a course on meditation and mindfulness, I bought a course on DBT therapy. Aman could stand to spend more time tying his beliefs into the core message he's supposed to be teaching on: DBT and therapy. A lot of his teachings were very much in line with my beliefs already, but his presentation did not seem grounded in DBT practice but rather in his own, personal hippy-dippy view on love and human connection -- that is to say, reductionist and overly flowerly at times. /You just need to approach the world with love, man./ The more he uses "vibe" language like this, the more the scientific objectivity dissolves into Aman's personal and subjective beliefs and preachings. Good, not great. But most importantly, I don't feel Aman fulfilled the course promise that I will be qualified based on this content to "Become a DBT COUNSELOR and set up your private practice!" It's nice, it's affirming, but it doesn't follow through on its actual promise.

The course gave a succinct yet detailed look into the DBT theory for practice. Slightly too many personal anecdotes/examples but overall a great upskilling tool for anyone looking to incorporate more theories for practice.

The person is telling too much and too many details about his own experiences, sometimes it is not even very relevant. The idea and the purpose are good, however, then it lacks broader context. also, it might be difficult to understand him from time to time.

It's straight forward, and explains the differences between DBT and other therapies. There is a lot of silence/reflection, so if you have an issue with that, you might find this course difficult.

The downloadable resources were helpful. However, the content felt catered to non-clinicians for self improvement to learn about my own habits and skills. The instructor also gave a lot of specific, personal details in the lessons. While examples are helpful for context, it felt like an inappropriate amount of self-disclosure for a professional course. I don't feel I finished the course with skills on conducting results-oriented counseling in DBT.

His accent is too heavy. Every "th" is pronounced as "t", e.g, ting=thing, tree=three. I wonder why Udemy cannot get an instructor without heavy accents.
