What is this course about?

This course is about Oracle's APEX framework which allows you to create modern, fully-functional web applications using nothing more than your browser. Applications in APEX are configured and not coded. But don't let that fool you. APEX is modern and allows for advanced web programming if you want to get your hands dirty. In this course we dive into the basics and intermediate level of APEX configuration. There is no heavy coding in this course. We use configuration and drag-and-drop in this course to get some pretty advanced functionality.

What kind of material are included?

The format for this course is watch and follow along. You are given two options for following along:

Request your own Oracle Workspace and follow along (Free)

Install your own instance of Oracle XE and APEX (Free) on your Windows machine

Both options are free. The student is expected to complete all of the same exercises in the video.

How long will the course take to complete?

The student should expect to dedicate 8 or more hours to complete the course.

How is this course structured?

Watch and follow along. I take you from beginning to end with this course video series. I will occasionally ask you to pause the video and complete a task to test your skills.

If your learning the latest or a more recent version of Apex this course is not for you, Oracle has tons of sample apps to get you started not to mention lots of Youtube Videos, But if your stuck working on 5 and have never worked with Apex this will be a good course. I started learning on 21 while I was waiting on access to 5 at my new gig and most of the things in here I had already figured out, but it was still a nice refresher course. A few times the teacher got stuck and forgot what he was doing, but after working with apex I fully understand why LOL

I will not recommend this course as you could easily search online for yourself for all the answers. The only advantage is the course has some sort of structure. The entire course is based on building a "knockoff version" of Udemy in order to illustrate how Oracle Apex works, which is done quite good but scratching the surface and loosing time searching a lot for fonts, while doing so. Furthermore, I tried to get in touch with the tutor myself for some help of any kind. Still, after 25 days no response whatsoever. I guess the tutor went inactive or I am just demanding too much.

Endlich kann ich mit APEX was anfangen. Alle bisherigen Versuche mit Tutorials waren erfolglos. Ich habe die Anwendungen zusammen klicken können, aber nicht wirklich verstanden was ich wo und wieso geändert habe. Im Video lernt man was man warum macht und manchmal auch wieso man was so nicht machen kann.

Extremely helpful fundamental overview. There are some differences between the course demo version of APEX (5.0) and the current release version from Oracle (5.1), but they are easy to navigate.

Course is great for beginners to pick up APEX 5 and roll with it, but anything more advanced will not be covered. It touches a little on using CSS, Javascript, JQuery UI and using PLSQL Functions for better control of visuals, but it barely scratches the surface. Also, some of the methods taught and some of the options shown are not present in current version of APEX 5, for instance the Master Detail option is no longer available, and JQuery UI to to make lists draggable is not working in current versions of APEX 5. Other than that, this is a good course to learn how to navigate around the tool quickly and use the features built-in for RAD, just be prepared to have a handbook nearby to read up on the more advanced and more recent features of APEX 5.

The lessons have an ad-hoc feel to them. The course in general doesn't seem to follow a specific syllabus. The presenter is constantly moving the mouse pointer to the point that the movement of the mouse becomes a very frustrating distraction, because you simply can't grasp what is it that presenter intends to do, and what should be the center of attention. Also at many occasions presenter can't make up his mind about what is it that he wants to describe, or which method he would like to use to carry out a specific task.

it is really a great effort from the trainer for really beginners but for intermediate or those users who want to be professionals we need some more drill down into apex with more lectures.
