Lighting and Rendering an Animation

Why take this course?

Welcome to "Create an Animated Character in Blender 2.9." This course uses only open-source software, Blender and the paint program Krita, to create an animated character from the first polygon to the final rendered animation.

We will begin by first bringing in the reference images of the character. And use Blender’s modeling tools to create the face with proper edge-flow for animation. We’ll create the hands, the feet, and the clothes. And when the modeling is done, we will UV map all the parts of the character, and we will use that UV map for our texturing.

In the texturing phase, we will use Krita to create the textures for the clothes, and Blender’s own Texture Paint tools to paint the details of the skin. You’ll learn how to use Blender’s Particle System to create, cut, and comb the character’s hair.

And then we will use Blender’s Rigify rigging system to set-up the bones of the character. We will bind the character mesh to the rig, and adjust the weights to improve the deformations.

And when all of that is done, we will begin animating the character. You’ll learn how to set-up a reference video in Blender’s interface, how to animate character movements, and how to create lip sync animation for a dialogue track.

In the end, we will add the music and sound effects, and then render the final animation to a video file.

If you’ve ever wanted to create your own 3D animated character, then this course is for you. Using all open-source software, this course goes through every step of the process. So join me, and learn how to Create an Animated Character with Blender 2.9.

Excellent tutorial video, I really felt I learnt something. The tutor goes at a decent pace, and what he teaches is also useful and gets me at least more comfortable with the myriad of panels and buttons in Blender.

This is a total schooling of character animation. So much valuable information and tutoring in a single course! I can't tell the feeling when you complete the tutorial.

Im loving this course! This is such a great course, its so out of my comfort zone but some how the professional and laybacked teaching style really works for me. This course is one of the best courses in my journey learning 3d and i certainly will be buying more of your courses. So thankyou and keep up the amazing work. I just hope when i finish my model and animation looks at least something like youve taught especially if the mouth works as intended . Then that's a win win for me.??once again Great work

This is the most excellent course. I have learned so much from this. I haven't done the final animation yet, but looking forward to it. If you don't own this course and want to learn just about everything about modeling, uv unwrapping, texturing, rigging, and animation, then this is the course for you.

This course lessons are completely with the most hardest way, but it has many easiest way to masking the face creation and others. I am not satisfied, but ok to understand the new techniques, but it is like a beating around the bush

Darrin is very competent, informative, and professional. I learned a lot from this tutorial and it gave me the knowledge I needed to create my own 3D characters and animations.

Yes. I have made one simple animation on my own but these early lessons are giving me a more professional look at how to move a character.

Very good so far. I had done some box modelling before but never this approach which looks to mimic face muscle structure.

I’m bored. The presenter doesn’t tell you when to try. I guess it will become more interesting later.

Good instructor but little explanation of the choice of seams in the UV Mapping section. Also got a little lost in the texture painting so left out adding the stripes for the time being. Hair section is easier to follow

Good for anyone wanting to create an animated character but has some level of familiarity with Blender or, similar software, so maybe more suited for intermediate to advanced students. However if you're up for the challenge then give the course a try, as I'm fairly new to Blender coming from a 3D software that's just too expensive. Darrin is professional, approachable, helpful and appears to have plenty of experience in using the software. He was often responsive to my queries however there were some instances where I never got a response thus I wasn't able to fix a problem with my character even when I tried Google. The other issue was the keyframes, where he skipped several steps from one video to the other. I wasn't keen on that method and would've preferred a complete walkthrough as this was the first time I'd used it. Some of the methods used, to build and animate the character, can be long winded or complex and can take a while to complete, depending on your schedule and how powerful your machine is. It requires patience.

I'm semi-new to Blender and wanted to really learn how to animate characters. This course has really helped me to understand UV Maps, Texture Painting, and Rigging. Darrin has done a superb job at making complex topics easy to understand.

Easiest way by far. I tried to follow another video on youtube and it was very difficult to make mine work. This is great.

Love this course! Mr. Lile does a great job of taking the time to explain everything in detail so you can follow along and work as he is working or watch the whole thing and go back in and try it yourself. Looking forward to the animation section!
