Why take this course?

Hey, welcome to Build your own load balancer on AWS Course!

If you're checking this course, I can assume you're interested in learning about the cloud or AWS! Well, this course will just help you do that!

This short and simple course will teach you:

  • How to create your own Virtual Machine (VM) on Amazon AWS EC2
  • Install and configure your VM
  • How to install packages on your VM
  • Converting your VM to a webserver
  • Deploying a simple website on your instances
  • Creating and configuring a load balancer to intense distribute traffic to your other web servers

All of this within 2 hours of your time!!!!

This is not a watch and learn course. You will be doing everything by yourself so you're actually building something and at the same time learning about it. I believe in do and learn instead of watch and learn.

By the end of this course, you will have created 4 webservers with a website on it and a load balancer that will evenly distribute the high amount of traffic among all your web servers.

All the knowledge I have on AWS is because of trying and doing projects and I think that's the best way to learn anything. To build something, doing it by yourself and that is my goal. To share my knowledge with you guys!

If you run into problems, have questions/suggestions please feel free to contact me. All my links are on my profile.

I hope you have a great time with this course and learn something new. I have tried my best to break everything down for everyone assuming you're totally new to the cloud!

Cheers!

Our review

--- **Overall Course Rating:** 4.25/5 **Course Review Summary:** *Pros:* - **Content Quality:** The course provides high-quality content with clear and detailed explanations, as noted by several reviewers. - **Expertise of Instructor:** The instructor is recognized for their knowledgeable approach and ability to deliver prompt and in-depth responses to queries. - **Practical Application:** The course offers practical videos that are highly valued by learners. The hands-on experience provided is a significant strength. - **Ease of Learning:** The material is segmented well, with each topic presented clearly, making it easier for learners to absorb the information. - **Learning Outcomes:** Reviewers have reported learning new things about AWS, indicating that the course content is both informative and beneficial. - **Value for Money:** A few reviewers mention that they have purchased expensive programs and courses on similar topics but found this course more straightforward and easier to follow, highlighting its value. *Cons:* - **Content Focus:** Some learners suggest that the course could benefit from a reorganization of the content, specifically swapping the 19th and 20th videos to improve flow towards the end. - **Depth of Topic:** One reviewer points out that the load balancer part is covered too briefly and suggests that more depth could be provided, especially for beginners. - **Practical Limitations:** There is a note that the course demonstrates setting up a load balancer using nginx on an EC2 instance rather than Amazon's native load balancer, which may not align with expectations for some users. - **Basics Overkill:** A few reviewers feel that the basics were covered too extensively, especially for those who already have experience or are looking to learn about more advanced topics like a load balancer. **Additional Feedback:** - **Ending Videos:** The ending videos are described as "a little clumsy," and it is recommended that the instructor consider swapping the order of the 19th and 20th videos to enhance the learning experience. - **Load Balancer Section:** While the load balancer content is appreciated, some learners suggest that more practical demonstrations of settings in the nginx config would be beneficial for a deeper understanding of the AWS EC2 load balancer. - **Instructor's Effort:** The instructor is praised for their effort and time spent on teaching, with one reviewer specifically mentioning the appreciation for the free course. **Final Verdict:** This course is highly recommended for its clear explanations, practical approach, and comprehensive content, especially for those new to EC2 or AWS. However, potential students should be aware that it focuses significantly on Linux directory listing and setting up instances with Putty, and there is a more extensive coverage of the basics than some learners might prefer. Despite these minor issues, the course remains an excellent resource for understanding the Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) service on AWS and is valued both for its educational content and the practical skills it imparts. --- **Rating Breakdown:** - Content Quality: 5/5 - Instructor's Expertise: 5/5 - Practical Application: 4.75/5 - Learning Experience: 4.5/5 - Course Organization: 3.75/5 - Value for Money: 5/5 *Note:* The ratings provided above are an amalgamation of the sentiments expressed in the recent course reviews and are intended to give a comprehensive overview of the course's strengths and areas for improvement.
