"Fundamentals of Automobile Engineering"

You don't need to have a degree in Mechanical Engineering to understand working of Automobiles!

This course is all about learning the working of cars right from basics. The course will take you on a journey in which you will learn about automobiles piece by piece. We will take the most common automobile - A Car and then understand its working by taking different parts of it, analyzing it closely and then comprehending how different parts work together enabling the vehicle to move from one point to another smoothly.

I will not be using unnecessary jargon and terms that only a car mechanic will be knowing! The journey will be for people from variety of backgrounds. So even if you are a person involved in Biology Lab or in making Android apps, you can happily enroll in the course if you have interest in knowing about Cars,

The course will be mostly in form of video lectures, where I will be explaining the different components using diagrams on whiteboard. For very complicated diagrams, I will be including images and pdfs so that your understanding can become concrete. It can take a total of 2-2.5 hours for completing the entire course.

To make this more interesting, I promise to reply to each and every genuine queries of the students, irrespective of the level of toughness of the query WITHIN 24 HOURS! I wish to have every student enrolled in the class, enjoy this journey with me.

At the end of the course, you will have a strong understanding of what happens inside the car and how different components work together in making a car ride comfortable, while moving from one place to another.

Arjit Raj is a good instructor. I love the way he simplified everything, I am not from an engineering background, but I was still able to grasp at least 99% of the teachings. Thank you for making this course!

Enjoying the course thus far. Very insightful and easy to understand for a non-engineer like me. Also enjoying the short and quick format of the course.

Very informative course, for example i was finally able to vividly understand the relationship between torque, speed and power; and how its applied in automobile. These and among other reasons. The course content is so small though and interesting, it could use a little updating.

Never ever thought such mechanisms forms the big picture of an automobile. A series of well informed lectures which were right at the point. Expecting more in-depth topics. Thank you Arjit.

Excellent instructor. The course is basic but still gives a nice overall view of the working of a car. One note - personally I'd be glad to see some more in-depth topics (Double-Cardan and why we need to use it, types of suspension etc). Still, a very nice basic course.

This is a fantastic course for someone that doesn't know anything about how cars work like me, the only downside is that he can be a bit hard to understand at times

Who isn't fascinated by automobiles? By taking this course, you get to learn about all the action going on behind the scenes when you are driving your car, and also get to appreciate man's endeavour to make scientific knowledge tangible, i.e., the field of engineering! The instructor's passion about the subject is quite inspiring, and is evident not only in his lectures, but also in his prompt and detailed responses to questions related to the subject. Worth every bit of your money, even if you are layman! And don't be put off by reviewers complaining about the instructor's proficiency in English, you will not have any difficulty in understanding what he is trying to convey, although native speakers might be unfamiliar with the accent.

Some lectures are quite good (Gears explained was nice) but some are not necessary - such as explaining the difference between an engineer and a mechanic, it just came across as self gratifying.

I think a collection of good youtube videos would do a better job. But for the very first time its ok

Most of what you say is correct, but it is a lecture about some basics only and often leaves a lot of useful stuff un-said - so the course is informative and not so comprehensive as it might be. In at least one place you either do not understand properly or use the wrong word/s. If I recall correctly you talked about the piston going down faster than it did upwards - not true - its more about greater force while going downwards. In a multi piston engine where one piston was on the compression stroke and the other on the power stroke they would be moving at exactly the same velocity (if in the same part of the stroke. Your use of the word "frame" may be correct in your area, but the word I (we) use here is "chassis". The production quality is basic but for the most part enough to get the point across clearly, and delivery was clear, tight and interesting for those who know nothing about vehicles.

Great course! He did a great overview of the components of an automobile and did a good job at explaining the purpose of and general idea of each component. I had a very basic understanding of cars and I learned a lot. It was worth the $$!
