What you will learn

Pass any basic level art history class at the college level.

Go to museums and art galleries and really understand what you are looking at.

Why take this course?

The history of art from 1300 to the 20th Century

This is part two of a year-long college-level survey course in art history. This course covers art history from the European Renaissance around 1300 A.D. until the Mid 20th Century

This course is designed as a basic college-level survey of art history. I provide an online textbook as well as study guides and worksheets.  This course covers the language used to discuss art.  A complete overview of art, culture, and architecture from the Renaissance to the 1950s.

Each work is covered in depth, the works physical or formal properties are discussed such as technology used to create the work, color, medium, materials, composition, and shading.

The symbolism of each work is discussed and how to interpret the interrelationship of symbols in a work of art.

This course is the actual content of a course I teach at an accredited college in California called Ohlone college.

I designed this course as a series of clear, non-jargon laden video lectures and texts designed to help any student who wants to pass AP art history and or any beginning level art history survey course.

This course now has professionally created captions in English on 98% of all the videos.

The content and the teacher were absolutely amazing. However, there is something off with the course structure. Sometimes I hear the teacher mentions something he says he talked about in previous lectures, but in fact it is a part of upcoming ones or not mentioned at all

Disfruto de la forma de enseñar del profesor y la forma en la que lleva las clases. Son cortas lo cual las hace entretenidas y concisas. Recomiendo.

as a Turkish person, my second language is English but it was very clear and understandable, I enjoyed this course so much. This course includes very valuable and fun information for art lovers. One of my best purchases.

It is a very good match for me, but the lecture I have heard was a bit too episodic and leapt from one extremely important focus to another without the thread. Otherwise, fantastic!

The course of "Art History Renaissance to 20th Century" covered an entire world of art we might have studied since schooling to graduate level. It was a lot of valuable information in a sequential chronological order systematically arranged and explained at our own speed. Thanks to Udemy.

yes - very interesting, lots of detail. Only issue I had is the fact that Dante died about 25 years before the Black Plague began, so he could not have been influenced by it. However I can see how his writing affected people who survived the Plague.

taking one star off because of two major annoyances: 1. having to change the file extension of all the pdfs. the instructor should take the initiative to reupload the correct files instead of asking each student to change the extensions. imagine the number of man hours wasted? 2. having two versions of each lecture, so one has to keep skipping the uncaptioned sections. and because i didn't finish those, udemy won't give me a cert (not that i need it)!

I was very much interested in art history of Renaissance in my student life while studying history, but over the years with work and family life, I completely forgot and ignored this subject, recently advised by my husband and daughter I looked into and enrolled in this course. This was the first video and it already made me going through the course, great video and very easy watch. Thank you.

Really a very awesome course about Art History. I would like to ask will there be extra lesson about Art nouveau / Art Deco or surrealism?

Excellent match for me, really well executed; hitting the mark in terms of detail and use of analogy, for modern times. My key interest is Modern Art; but am surprisingly enthralled by the historical parts of the course and context. As a Catholic I have found myself revisiting "old ground" from my school days and I look forward to my studies every day.!

I loved the content, the variety and the scope of the course. I found the verbal ticks of the lecturer very grating by the end ("what I suggest to you".. x1000) and it annoys me that all the lectures are uploaded twice. other than that, a perfect introduction, accessible to newcomers.

I’ve just completed this course and took my time with it. What an anthropological journey, not just an art journey! It’s a lecture meant to educate not so much to entertain so it might be a drag sometimes bt tt happens when learning. His Lecture has allowed me to understand deeply how art has become what it is today and to a certain extent appreciate it. A course well worth it! This course teaches you the concepts and techniques evolved in art history into the modern times

I"ve been out of college for about 30 years and homemaker. My brain became mush. I do not even have the skills to focus or to think. This program allows me to go at my own pace and reintroduce cognitive thinking to my unproductive brain matter. Without stressing that a undesirable grade is going to permanently decorate my transcript. Interesting, comprehensive, and the ability to absorb and understand the teacher.
