So far, a bit too basic for me, but I also have to recall that I was a navigator in a prior career. At the very least, the good captain could present terms and be quicker about it so as to not lose the audience. Chapter 3 practice problems, particularly #3F, needs to be double-checked. I confirmed the presentation answer key's plotted courses were off by as much as 4-5*M (used 1210TR).

I can only imagine the people who rated this 5 stars did so before they got past Chapter 3. There are a number of errors and missing sections / missing data in this course. If you're using it as a supplement and you've already done another course then maybe you can "fight through" the issues but if this is your actual intro you will find a number of places where you are totally lost. E.g. good luck with the problem set Chapter 4C, nearly every question and answer has huge problems. Really disappointing.

I greatly appreciated Captain Howard's introduction and the tone/feel he set for the course. The first two videos gave me a feeling that he knows what he's doing, but it was also inspiring because he got into sailing "later" in life, as am I. I am looking forward to the rest of this course very much, and then hopefully rocking my ASA 105 exam! Thank you, Capt Howard!

Great job .....lots of info....I have had a 100 ton License for over 30 years and found the 101,103,104 and 105 videos to be a great review for me. I wish that they were around 35 years ago and my testing would have been a lot easier. Thanks Capt . Howard Cape. Len Bucko

Master sailor, respected and knowledgable. Good graphics to illustrate latitude, moon and sun phases. Kind man who responded to my email inquiries regarding the mismatched answers and problems that became a huge source of frustration for me, but he still couldn't help me understand. Purchased course over a month ago, so I read I will not get a refund, which would be highly warranted because I now must find a better teacher and book to help me solve navigation exercises. I wouldn't say it was a waste of time due to some learning, but I am left feeling low confidence because I could not solve all problems properly. Even my knowledgable husband had difficulty following the practice problems. In the email, this instructor honestly admitted to making mistakes. I am disappointed but will continue my studies with another instructor. Also, as of this writing, he is 80+ years old and may not be able to help you with any questions you have, as he said he couldn't remember the content or context of questions. He was very kind, though, and we wished each other well in the email.

Wish I had read the Q&A's first and noted the myriad of problems with this course before I started it. I noted Chapter 5C is missing. Data in 5B is missing. Video glitched in several places. Either the magnetic deviation has changed a huge amount (which you wouldn't think since this is specifically a training chart. I purchased my chart in May, 2020) or several answers are incorrect. Despite all the problems, there might be enough good material to avoid asking for a refund.

Seems to start off slow, it I am an aviator so some of it is known already. So many incorrect values in his answers.

Very good match Thank You. The chart number at the beginning of the course is incorrect. Not until the exercises does the Captain Howard say the correct chart number to purchase. Otherwise, it is a very good course.

Just about worth $10. Contains enough errors and omissions to be concerning. But, I learned $10 worth.

Very helpful. However, when the concepts get very complicated, it would be helpful to give a second example. Also, he refers to an appendix chart. That should be reproduced (in part) as part of the lecture and not ask the student to look for it. Some things really do require repetition and multiple examples.

correcting or course made good doesn't show how to use chart instruments to calculate a change of course. Drift and set are not explained in enough detail. These are key in taking the 105 test.

The instructor jumped through running fixes and set and drift. He makes reference to an additional section in the class that doesn't exist.

I would remove the comment regarding Tides and Currents being "out dated". This skill, like charting, needs to be mastered incase of electronic failures. All in all it was an excellent review of the material.

This particular section "introduction to ATONS" is very a very good. Well illustrated. Interesting narration. Good exam preparation.
