Why take this course?

I will be looking to delve deeper into Exadata Patching and explore this subject to demystify the entire dilemma around the Exadata Complete Stack Patching.

Starting with the History of Exadata comprising of the Evolution of Exadata and covering the Journey of Exadata from 2008 till 2018 we will have a quick summary of the  different generations of Exadata and key advancements that have taken place during this Journey.

A good understanding of the Exadata Stack will be given to the audience by discussing the key components like Storage Grid , Database Grid , Infiniband Networks & Other Components like (Ethernet Switches / PDU’s).

Audience will be recommended the Master Notes of Exadata, having some explanation around QFSDP (Quarterly Full Stack Downloadable Patch) and giving them an understanding on Exadata Versions & how the numbers match up.

We shall then delve deeper into Storage Server Patching, commands used, discussing Rolling/Non-Rolling methods. Next would be Compute node patching and what happens behind the scenes, discussion around the powerful utility dbnodeupdate. The Exadata database server patching including GI + DB will be discussed and also the significance of patches like SPU/PSU/BP/DBBP. The Infiniband patching will be discussed to tell the audience how the firmware for the switches are patched.

At the end a case study will be presented to show how the Complete Stack upgrade was done from Exadata 12.1 to Exadata 12.2.1.1.0.

The course is not up-to-date. Should have included topic on RoCE switches' patching also, and should be updated to latest X8M/X9M Exadata. Otherwise, teaching way is good.

only Theories and demos are commands, not actual demos wherein the patches were applied and monitored using logs

Theoretically, the explanation is good, however, I expected a little deeper in the practical execution of the patching.

The Practical demos are not complete. All the steps are not mentioned only high level steps were discussed. exa-data Patching commands with example / Output logs are not demonstrated properly. The course is good for beginner just for understanding the process involved in patching not actual patching.

I am expecting practical of patch precheck, and actual patch applied that is missing. Even what are the things it is used to check while cell server pre check patch and example of troubleshooting etc are missing. It is very vary basic that was not expected.

Very informative. This is a big help to those who wanted to know the basics of Exadata Patching. Hope to see more advance training with regards to Exadata and also troubleshooting for some errors. Other parts of the training audio have low in volume

Only one expectation from my end as execute the commands during run time on the course then get to know what are error's that will teach us much more experience.

Expecting some deepdive into exadata patching /actual patching itself. Should have covered different type of issues, cases where need to involve support, hung situation, post install issues etc. All it was shown is a simple vanilla command options and explanation of help output.. deeply disappointed for the course price and content

It's a good start but it needs updates as last updates was long back. Also it should have practical sessions on how the things goes after running ./dbnodeupdate.sh.

Very Disappointed ! Request a REFUND. Disturbed on the time wasted | "Practical DEMO" The trainor reading the readme and mentioning obvious in ppt format along with unzipping the Patch files on a MAC system . ON a Practical module certainly expect The command to be run on Exadata machine or similated Vm's so we get the feel of the commands (preview * post view of --checks; active & inactive partitions; review BIOS order; imageinfo;Exachk; steps to extract details of Storage/Database servers,IBswitch) usage of dcli, cli. redundant chat could be avoided, its obvious anyone who purchase Exadata patching Udemy module, would know some basiscs of Exadata. I am surprised on the overall rating. Expected Practical Demo during rolling upgrade.
