What you will learn

How to Design tests in Xray

How to Execute tests in Xray

Parameterizing and Creating Test Data in Xray

Creating Reports and Dashboard in Xray

Why take this course?

Xray allows you to plan, design, and execute tests, as well as generate test reports. Xray uses specific Jira issue types for this process. Each testing phase allows you to use the following issues: Plan phase: Test plan issues. Design phase: The specification is defined using precondition and test issue types.

Xray is a Test Management add-on to the Jira Software cloud. It enables QA Engineers to manage their test resources within Jira along with the functionalities of Jira. This can save a lot of your time in terms of systematically organizing your tests, executions, data, etc. Also, a great platform to build easy reports to be shared with stakeholders. It also gives you the freedom to collaborate on different tests and the Jira Flavor makes it more intractable.

The sessions include all Xray issue types including Tests, Preconditions, Test Executions, Test Sets, and Test Plans.

The course includes a working tutorial with different aspects of Xray features with real-time scenarios and use case discussions which can help individuals apply them back in their day-to-day work. This course covers sessions right from installing the tool, creating tests, organizing tests, parameterizing tests, building reports, traceability, coverage measurement, reporting, and dashboard creation.

Xray comes with an in-built Test Repository option to organize various tests in a systematic folder manner for ease of reference and categorization.

Any new user can learn the end-to-end functionality of Xray using this course and implement it in real time.

The instructor clearly has a lot of knowledge on the subject, and covers a lot, but there are a couple of things that could be improved to make it more polished and easier to digest. This feels a bit more like a webinar series than a training course, but without the benefits of being able to communicate/ask questions. 1. Needs better scripting. It could be more concise, and grammar could be improved to help understanding. Little rambley at times. 2. Several times there were cases where what the instructor intended to show didn't work properly - they were small errors and are likely things anyone could run into when working. This is a course - if you're recording it and you run into an issue, stop the recording, figure it out, start it over again from the error, and edit that out in the final product.

I learnt so much about features that I wasn't sure how to use or was using inefficiently. The course was very interesting and informative

No notification with 'Add Xray issue type' appearing. Instructor is talking a lot without saying anything new. It's of course good to be thorough, but in my opinion this course could have been done in half the time.

It miss some concret case in a big project. All the management with Jira issues seams difficult. A exemple of mass regression test that need to be executed at each marjor version would be great.. is it simple ? is there a specific stategic ? template to use ? :) thx for all

While this course covered the basics, in a simple use case. Could use a bit more about when you have multiple agile release trains or solutions and working with multiple projects and then also something about when nothing is found in the reports in other words, users are not filling in everything needed and perhaps different teams running projects differently.

Neeraj is clear and concise with his teaching and usage of X-ray. This course caters more to explaining X-ray usage and basic configuration. If you have little to no understanding of testing and QA this is great. If you have plenty of experience with QA and just stepped into an org that uses X-ray this is also great to hit the floor running. Now if you want to be a power user of the app it does not go too in depth when it comes to the power user level of configuration and reporting, but it does give you everything you need to POC and become a power user through trial and error.
