Why take this course?

Ancient Greece was a civilization belonging to a period of Greek History from the Greek Dark ages of the 12th–9th centuries BC to the end of antiquity. Immediately following this period was the beginning of the Early Middle Ages and the Byzantine era. Roughly three centuries after the Late bronze age collapse of Mycenean Greece. Greek urban poleis began to form in the 8th century BC, ushering in the period of Archaic Greece and colonization of the mediterranean Basin. This was followed by the period of Classical Greece,an era that began with the Greco-Persian wars lasting from the 5th to 4th centuries BC. Due to the conquests by Alexander the great of Macedonia,Hellenistic Civilization flourished from Central Asia to the western end of the Mediterranean sea. The Hellenistic period came to an end with the conquests and annexations of the eastern Mediterranean world by the Roman Republic which established the Roman province of Macedonia in Roman Greece and later the province of Achaea during the Roman Empire.

In this course you will learn everything about  Crete and Mycenae, colonization and Greek cities, wars between Persia and the Athenian empire, Sparta and the Peloponnesian war, Alexander's conquests and the Hellenistic kingdoms.

Pros: -Covers almost every aspect of Ancient and Classical Greek history from language, architecture, wars, politics, religion, migration etc. -Videos are short but not bare of information. The right amount to get the point across without adding unnecessary information. -Videos are well made and the animations and graphics are used well. Cons: -Transcript is auto-generated so it makes note-taking a difficult task (but not an impossible one.) For example trying to make out the Greek names mentioned when the transcript gives something completely random. Again, its not impossible you just need to do a bit of searching on your own when it could have been mentioned clearly in the transcript. -The only one question in the course wasn't answered but I eventually found the answer from my own effort.

This course has a lot of interesting details about the Greeks and their history. My negative on the course has to do with the audio quality of the reader and not the subject matter. It skips several times and it's quite annoying when your taking notes. I also found that the notes were not "translated" or scribed correctly so when I was taking notes and had to re-winding what he said and the transcripts lack the correct wording. Also, no quizzes or tests to test my knowledge.
