I wish he had given more examples of dives and more pictures... eg wreck diving... large sea creatures such as whale sharks and manta rays... especially with the later videos with only talking (more examples of photographs!) but I really like that he puts in a lot of effort to be interactive in the forum section and engage students over the years. That being said, I’ve only watched a few videos thus far so perhaps I’ll change my mind later on!

Spending most of the course time just having the presenter talking directly into the camera is not the best use of time for a course on photography. The course needs many more examples of how to do things and less repetition. Other underwater photo courses are much better.

It has all that one needs to know before embarking this journey of exploring a new world under the water.

There was a lot of good information here, and the author is definitely experienced. However, in the presentation, there was too much face time, and not enough time with images of what he was talking about. I think if there were more pictures and visual examples of what he was talking of, this course would have been better. All in all informative, but the focus is mostly on the teacher.

This course is kind of a summary of the introduction to a book on underwater photography. There is very little real content and two of the key lectures, Lecture 7 and 8, are exactly the same. Jon Haase really enjoys the “talking head” method of teaching and missed several great opportunities to demonstrate diving equipment and underwater photography gear. The course emphasizes water and diving safety but two of the terms mentioned in the water safety lecture are: “We are meant to be on land,” and “People sometimes drown in the water.” Not really all that helpful.

If you are traveling to an exotic locale that you are going to be taking photographs in, you really need to invest in this course. Especially, if you are going to go to Hawaii!!! I know the information will apply. Jon talks about every step that is involved in the process and discusses several scenarios and where you would go from there. Keep up the great work!

Based on the great experience I had taking Jon's other photography course, I decided to take this one as well and was not disappointed. Jon made a difficult subject easy to understand. I am looking forward to applying these lessons on my next vacation.

It had some hints but lacked informations on the special settings in the water (water filters light, what does it mean, how can it be diminished). I expected more theory. For 99 USD I would be pissed, for 15 USD ... well okay... It is fair. I just expected more.

His underwater shots are amazing, and he delivered on the promise to help me do the same. His class covered details such as water safety, image composition, and technical requirements, making a very thorough and enjoyable learning experience. Jon's lessons were fun and well thought out, with fine production quality. I can't wait for my next dive to put it all to use!

I really enjoyed taking this course. I have to hold my hands up here to say I'm one of Jon's Udemy photography instructor colleagues. When Jon first asked me to take a look at the course I admit I was a little reluctant as I don't dive. But once I started watching the course I was mesmerised by the beautiful images and couldn't stop watching. This must have been a very difficult course to attempt to make, and Jon makes a great job of it. It's very comprehensive with lots of great underwater tips that as a fellow photographer I wouldn't even have considered. Thoroughly recommended.

Jon is a fantastic instructor who knows his stuff! Underwater photography seems so much less daunting now and the dive video will inspire you to get started. I appreciate his attention to safety and respect for the underwater environment.
