Ultimate Audio Compression Guide

This is the best compression course ever and I searched everywhere no one gets close to this level of instruction and easily comprehend as him. Thank you!

I've got some experience using Compressors. This is so far, a pretty good refresher course to remind me the things i learned in school but may have omitted from memory.

Okay, maybe I had too high of expectations from this course, having taken other some excellent Udemy production courses, but this instructor just skims on the surface of why things do what they do. He'll literally adjust a release knob and be like "so turn the knob down and you can hear it sounds more snappy, so yeah that's what that does" And I literally can't hear the difference because he didn't go in depth enough about what it does to the shape of the sound wave, or what frequencies will be effected or what, specifically I should listen for. Yeah I get what tighter means but when I'm looking to train my ear to be really good at compression, I want to know the specifics and don't want to play guessing games. He also covers like a TON of compressors in the course, most of which you have never heard of and will never work with because if you aren't studying sound engineering at a uni or studio you will probably never be exposed these compressors. I gave 2.5 stars for the few tips I learned and general listening practice. There are a few things I picked up, but compared to other courses I've taken for the same price, this was weak.

He teaches from the perspective of someone who already knows what they are doing. He needs to explain more about the compressors he's using. The course should be taught from the perspective of people that know nothing about music production. Teach from the bottom up not from the top down. I came here to learn because I don't know anything about compression, if you assume I already know the subject matter what good is the course?

The simplified method and terms used to explain the lessons make it easier for the student to understand the areas of study that might otherwise appear complex.

Very informative on the different kinds of compressor plugins, without getting into much details of what kind they are (VCA, FET, Optical, Tube). Clear audio examples and explanation on the response of the different compressors and their settings. Lots of info. Definitely learned a bit more with this course. For sure learned about stereo compressors with "unlink" feature!!
