You will be very welcome.

This is an unusual course as it is centred round one theme only: turning to religion as a means of seeking guidance to reduce stress.

We look at the following:

  • Stress

  • What causes stress?

  • What is stress?

  • How to deal with Stress?

  • A stress-free life is possible!

  • A Calm Heart

  • COVID-19 impact

The entire first half of the course was shot on a cruise, a cruise where country after country turned the ship away as the coronavirus commenced its worldwide havoc.

So -

  • Numerous biblical references

  • Other religions also referenced

  • Scenic shots

  • Mindfulness

This is a course for you to dwell on, for you to enjoy and to be at peace.

A new section has been added on creating a Stress Workbook...for yourself

You could turn to drugs to reduce stress. It works. But no one would recommend it because of the collateral damage envolved. The same with religion. Go to a shrink. Start some productive activities. There is no need to learn about slavery, rape and imaginary animals to reduce stress. There is nothing good there - your covering the problem.

I Am just starting this course today and will update my review a bit later again but for now, I'm happy to be here and super excite. I love the first section that explains how the Udemy platform work.

To me, what I have seen so far seems like an unstructured and incomprehensible monologue. It doesn't help that it is filmed on board a ship. I found the explanations of what stress is are vague, and the whole experience was like listening to rambling dogma and opinion. It is interesting that one of the lectures is on kindness, yet the instructor is pretty unkind to those students who dare criticize his course in reviews. I cannot watch any more.

I tried to engage with this course but failed. Much of it is badly filmed selfie videos of the instructor on a cruise ship sharing disjointed opinions with the wind in his hair while his face is often off screen, and much of what he says off topic. It maybe he has something to teach on this important subject. But it is too thrown together to tell.

Thank you for the information on stress reduction. The course give many types, and specific strategies to help deal with stress in both a religious and a nonreligious setting. At the same time, this course also, give examples and ideas of what to put in a stress book. Thank you again for all the information. A+

One of the things that I like about this course is you don't think you are enrolling just like sitting in a class & learning studying... I mean you don't get bored with various topics & the information that the instructor gives you, it's like you're getting extra knowledge which is so positive point because not everyone gives you extra information to let you think over various & other interesting things may you don't know about. This kind of freedom and thinking about more than one topic in the class involves your mind & challenge you to be open mind to other stuff & look differently. He doesn't say be religious to reduce your stress, he's talking about that it's a kind of method to use it for your own good & reduce your stress like all of the different methods you can use & it has its own special benefits!!!

I found the first 10 minutes were so incredibly boring and tedious, it caused increased stress. This course is misleading in the title! What a waste of money!

The first lecture of this course, where in Chris is taking us along with him on cruise and making us part of the beautiful evening, and is asking us to do mindful meditation along with him, hooks me, making me excited and looking forward for more, and so it is.. he has recorded the whole of it on cruise, which is like so different and definitely is acting as immediate de stressor. I am half way through and every time I come back to listen next lecture I go into deep relaxation. All courses by Chris are full of knowledge and so much material, and likewise this one.. this course will first give you technical knowledge of stress and how it is ruining this life, and later make a person think about taking care of this precious life, by not succumbing to stress and neither to easy way of de stressing, instead it will guide you how to savour this life with small little changes, it’s like coming back to oneself.

Lots of fairly routine basic stuff about stress; nothing yet about turning to religion to help deal with it except for 2 or 3 quotes from Christian scriptures. Rather superficial so far (I'm up to the lecture on being orderly).

Stress, anxiety and depression are closely related. The latter two are common factors in mental ill health which can the treated by a talking therapy known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, itself a branch of person-centred counselling. Having studied the latter I was interested to see what these counselling techniques and Christianity have to say about how we live a good life. Several Bible quotations are given to support how stress many be reduced. There was also a very interesting section about how stress affects the body. A good short course.

In my opinion the course starts with an excellent perspective of stress. I enjoy this course such as many others of Chris Bankes Sivewright.
