Make rhythm guitar more interesting with ii-I and V-I movements

Learn to use the augmented chord

Add colour to your chord progressions with rootless dominant 7th chords

Why take this course?

Master guitarist Steve Briggs expands your understanding of chords by walking you through the mechanics of triads and their many practical uses. His time-tested approach uses carefully-crafted exercises, and combines them with practical application using backing tracks to solidify your skills.

Carrying on from TRIADS Guitar Theory: Play All Over The Fretboard, we're going to deepen your learning here and really make you a rhythm guitar master.

In this course,  you’ll learn about a new kind of triad – Spread Voiced Triads. These are great to expand your vocabulary and start voicing chords more like a keyboard player would. You can practice these voicings with the playalong videos. You'll also learn about the concept of neighbouring chords like the two chord or the 7 chord to make your rhythm guitar parts even more interesting. There's also the augmented chord that can spice up your progressions and finally the rootless diminished 7th chord that's great to use in a blues jam as well as your own tunes.

I know Steve as a player and a teacher. He's excellent in both roles. Clear and enthusiastic instruction.

Just absolutely brilliant - pulls together so many strands of my intermediate abilities to tie them up and put me more firmly on a path to becoming an advanced player. Cannot describe how grateful i am for the playing wisdom here. I would advice anyone learning with this course (and forgive me if this obvious) to be sure to do EVERYTHING in all 12 keys. It’s explained in two keys — but practice practice practice in all 12.

Really enjoyed how part 2 went more in-depth with these concepts. Spread voiced triads are super cool and I've seen other artists do them and I'm glad to be able to do them too! Also, the play along videos at the end are sooo good for practicing with.
