Informative. Nice to see coding in editor; however some steps can be achieved with "buttons" in query editor. For example the Expanding records can be accomplished by clicking on icon in header.

The exercises help in gaining an understanding. The initial parts of this course however, lack clarity and knowledge of M as a coding language is assumed but this course is listed at beginner level. Once you get to the exercises, the course makes more sense but it can be improved as there are many errors and the formatting/layout doesn't make it seem professional with exercise titles not corresponding to the structure of the course.

A worthwhile course containing good content. The exercises gave me additional exposure to concepts I learned in other Udemy power query courses. I appreciate the instructor's 'you try on your own and then I'll show you how I solved the exercises' teaching approach. I was hoping for more emphasis on writing M code from scratch after working through the M primer portion of the course. Alternatively more in-depth explanations / analysis of the code that the query steps recorder wrote behind the scenes would have been satisfying as well.

Worth the time and money. This course is not for beginners and Randy is open about it. Take this class after course for beginners to solidify your knowledge.

The instructor has good knowledge of Power Query and M, but the presentation is not very good. You can still learn from this course despite its poor organization, it will just take patience. If you take this course I recommend holding Section 2 until the very end. The instructor doesn't say it until the end of the video, but Section 2 is intended to show how Power Query can generate a list of available M functions. This is much more relevant after getting through the rest of the content. Section 2 is also a stream of conscious presentation on M which is incredibly confusing to start off with - so don't start off with it. If the instructor would like to make some improvements here are some ideas: - Zoom in or highlight parts of the screen where click events are happening, especially when the click isn't in the menu - Use more descriptive language. For example, instead of saying "We'll click this" say "Click on the header of the email column" - Use word wrap to make it easier to see full blocks of M code - Don't show the repetitive Transform Data process at the beginning of every exercise solution - Give different file names to sample files rather than six files named Sales.xlsx, five files named Data.xlsx, etc. - If you make a mistake and don't catch it immediately, then redo the video. It makes it confusing when a mistake is made, but isn't resolved until later in the lesson - The script in Section 2 does not work with more recent versions of Power BI with the enhanced metadata format

5 stars without hesitation. It is my 5 th course bought on udemy about Power Query and M and it is the only one that has half the time only exercises. I can't wait for the 2nd part to appear. Thank you!

Randy is a solid instructor. I work professionally with Power BI and the content he has put together is actually the stuff that a person needs to know. And even if a person knows Power BI pretty well, it's worth it to take his courses to supplement existing skills.
