You're here because you want to create your own WordPress websites, right?

This WordPress for Beginners course is the perfect place to start. This complete WordPress course is designed for beginners like you who have never built a WordPress website (or any website for that matter).

WordPress is the perfect tool for creating a fully customized website for any purpose. Whether you want to create a blog,  a personal portfolio, or a business website to sell your products and services, you can do it with WordPress.

While WordPress might seem scary from the outside, once you get started, it's fairly intuitive. Everything from hosting to installing a theme, then actually building your first pages can be learned in the first few lessons of this course.

With this WordPress course, you don't need to actually pay for hosting to practice with WordPress. I'll show you how to create a free temporary site so you can follow along.

Why learn WordPress from me?

I've been building WordPress websites for years. Just like you, there was a time when I was a complete newbie! I was honestly scared of starting a WordPress website because it seemed so daunting.

Now I love WordPress! I wouldn't recommend using any other web-building tool.

I still remember what it is like to be a beginner, and I've kept that in mind while creating this entire course. I walk you through every process step-by-step to make sure you understand things clearly. And if there is ever anything that is confusing, just let me know and I'll create more lessons that explain or walk you through myself.

One of the best WordPress courses that I have ever read. But some plugins explained here like GC MailPoet EX and GC Message Box are no longer there at WordPress.org. And some themes and plugins seem not to be tested with the latest version of WordPress!! Otherwise, GREAT content and great work from Phil

Rajat1 September 2020

I wanted to know about WordPress functionalities, navigation, hosting and I think so far I'm on the right track, learning so many new things, Busting myths, Clearing concepts. So,, for me right now, I know i've just started but i think It's above expectations. Phil is such a Great tutor, He knows how to build enthusiasm, keep engaged, and more importantly how to make us grasp everything.

Clear and easy to understand. No nonsense. Many good tips. Could be better if there are more pauses after an important message.

I was expecting more development and how to build crud apps on the top of wordpress. But the author knows his stuff, is just is not what I expected.

Firas4 January 2020

Just wish all the lessons were updated to new version of WordPress. There are some instructions given in some lessons that the layout doesn't match the current WordPress layout and it can get confusing (especially with the plugins section 3). Also some lessons have maybe been removed? Making the building website part of these lessons confusing if you were trying to recreate word for word (Mostly section 2). Overall, still good and relevant info and grateful for the sections that have been updated.

At this point I am rating this course as a two-star course for several reasons. 1. The most compelling reason is that the instructor hops all over the place when referring to the "old" version of the editor and the "new" version (Gutenberg Editor). For someone who is an absolute newbie, this has been a tremendously frustrating experience, especially when trying to take notes and to keep track of exactly how to do it with the version of Wordpress that I am using. At one point he states that there may be instances when he gives instructions for the old version of the editor and hopes that "somehow" we will be able to "figure it out on our own". 2. Another reason for the two-star rating is that he keeps hopping back and forth when he references two different websites that he uses for the examples in this course. 3. He doesn't appear to use a course outline, so at times the continuity is an issue. 4. He references some rather technical issues that are almost impossible to understand without prior knowledge of Wordpress or web mechanics. This rating is being offered relatively early in the course, and I am more than willing to update my rating later on as the course progresses, as long as the above issues are no longer encountered.

Bit of a struggle understanding all of the material on Bluehost and your video. My initial page didn't contain a default theme. Also, 'visit the site ; required some searching because my view is different than yours. Marketplace wasn't in the location you highlighted, but I guess I see it in another location.

I cannot recommend this course to anyone looking to purchase it beyond the summer of 2019. This course is WAY too outdated. First off, let me say I enjoyed Phil as an instructor. I liked the content he showed us, I liked his teaching style, and I liked that he didn't just show us how to do something, he gave us reasoning and perspective. However, throughout the entire course I was constantly looking into the Q/A and Googling how to do something because Phil's videos are so out of date and so many things (themes, widgets, plug-ins, etc) have changed since he posted this course. Now I know what Phil or someone else might say, "That's great! It teaches you how to problem-solve and research on your own to figure stuff out. A very important part of being a web developer." No. That is BS and a horrible excuse. We are PAYING for this course. 100% of the content on Udemy can be found on YouTube.com for FREE. The reason we go on Udemy is to avoid the ads, avoid the promo codes that instructors push, and to get honest/thorough explanations on how to do something. The least we ask for is that the information is up to date. I would say since Phil added this course about 70% is now outdated. And when I say outdated, I don't just mean it doesn't "look" the same, I mean there are fundamental differences in the way certain things are structured, essentially making parts of his videos completely useless. He added a few new videos to talk about the new (2018-2019) Gutenberg editor on WordPress, but EVEN THAT video is now outdated as some of the themes he uses in the video use the new Elementor editor. I think the only goal Phil has for keeping this course up is to make passive income. I don't think he really wants people to get into WordPress feeling confident. I will absolutely admit that I did learn some quality information thanks to this course, however, I can't even begin to explain how many times I got frustrated watching Phil explain something, look at my own website/WordPress, and see that everything has since changed. I want to reiterate that I enjoy Phil as an instructor and I would even consider purchasing another course of his if I knew it was up to date. And I get it, technology gets updated, WordPress gets updated, themes change, but as that stuff changes SO SHOULD THIS COURSE! I have a web development course that I'm taking that is also outdated, the difference is CSS hasn't changed much in the past few years and the instructor adds things, like an updated look at Bootstrap as it went from version 3 to 4. My only hope now is he continues to update this course with new content so that I can get my money's worth. I do not believe that will happen, however, because Phil has his own online media company, so I don't think he has the time. PLEASE do yourself a favor and find an UPDATED WordPress how-to course, this one will only frustrate you.

Great primer for getting started with Wordpress. Author defines knows his stuff. Sometime author moves a little too fast in showing step by step mouse movements. Really enjoyed the class and learned a lot.

Charles6 September 2019

Its good but I was hoping he would either show himself or point to resources that show installing WordPress directly to a vanilla box unzipping the WP Download and setting up the database - I know it's more technical but even if it's something the "I'm not a coder" could skip but the "Coders" who are looking at this course as a starting place could get both experiences... I'm hoping that the remainder of this course will be good for both coders and non-coders...

Pasi21 August 2019

Liked the video lecture start because it was nicely introduced and it was enjoyable follow. I liked most the instructor's enthusiasm for explaning things and the pace how new things are explained.
