What you will learn

By the end of the course, you will undestand the key points of the major learning theories in second language acquisition.

By the end of each unit, you will be able to devise strategies for your classroom using the learning theory you just learned.

During each unit, you will work through scenarios to assist in visualizing how the theory can play a role in your classroom.

At the beginning of each unit, you will perform a "real world" activity which will help you grasp the underlying principles of each theory..

Description

This course will expose you to prominent learning theories in the field of education today. Since there is no one "correct" learning theory, you will learn the basics of what these theories say, where problems lie in application, and how to use them in your classroom management, lesson planning, and lesson delivery.

This course has been carefully crafted so that participants with no formal education background can easily partake in the course. Likewise, the course has been designed for new educators with no experience, educators with years of experience, and everyone in between. Anyone can take this course!

The dreaded theory course has been made fun and useful for all participants. With the use of engaging whiteboard videos, useful worksheets, and presentation videos, the course is designed to challenge your mind while being captivating at the same time. The course is guided by an instructional design framework created by the author, which is based off several prominent learning theories. So this course is just not a mishmash of activities to fill time, but a carefully sculpted program to guide the participant through a learning experience.

Most educators learn how to teach by methodologies, but now, I am here to show you how to start teaching by learning theory to truly see results in your classroom.

So far, I have already learned by myself before. But this is a good chance to review them. And it was easy to learn for me.

Good course. Easy to understand and the focus is on the important things, no need to waste time on unnessesary information. It is step by step and the worksheets makes you think. Overall a good impression.

It is a great way to introduce myself with all the theories, since I'm not an expert in he field. But, I'd like even more practical examples of these theories and how they can be applied in practice.

The course was simply amazing. I really enjoyed it. It was pretty refreshing to know more about these theories. I had some background knowledge of some of them, but not of all. This creates a dilemma for me since I was considering to take the CELTA examination and it seems just right for people who are beginning teaching, but TESOL was way more holistic I would say. I will definitely look more into it. On the whole, the course is worth every penny. Regards, Hugo

It was good course and went through very quick and systematically. In the beginning when I was about to sign up for the course I was scared that there would be 58 videos but it is not correct. Each topic includes about 2 or 3 informative/lecture videos rest of them are either questions or responses to questions. It is good the instructor reads them and created a video but the number 58 made me scared. It would be good if he write like 20 lecture videos and 28 other useful videos.

This is a course that I will have the students who are outside of the US as a group take the course. It will allow them to review things that they have covered in other situations. Excellent for Professional Development for the Graduate Students who are interested in ESL

It was a refresher course and a teacher's job in a nutshell. It's a course applicable to educators who are serious in their chosen field. I hope all teachers, not only language, would attend and study this program. Thumbs up!

Going into details about theories that have problems didn't seem like the most efficient use of time. Although I appreciate the practical advice by telling us certain things we probably should not do while teaching.
