Why take this course?

The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a method, or methodology, in which we change existing systems, and create new systems.

The SDLC have many uses, one of many being its majorly use in Software Development.  I always liked the simplicity of the system, and have used it for many systems, not only computer software.  I most frequently use the SDLC for altering protocols and standards within organizations, in order to improve upon the existing systems my clients currently use.  These can be systems of any kind.

Join me in this course, where you can learn the SDLC from scratch as well, and be able to put it to use immediately!  Most of us have some "standard" we follow, as we do things - for example shopping or what not - and we can use the SDLC for tasks as simple as this as well!  We just need to know how to use this system, which is incredibly simply, but all so powerful!

After you have completed this course, I am confident you will have the knowledge to implement the System Development Life Cycle into any system development project you may be involved with.  Many Project Managers will try to manage projects, but simply lack the basic understanding of the SDLC.  Take advantage, and learn the basics, so that you can outperform your competition.

This course has been carefully planned: I've separated the five phases of the System Development Life Cycle into five separate modules.  In addition, there's an introduction section, as well as a summary section.  I've also made the lectures very short, this is to help you focus on the topic at hand, be able to understand it better, and so that you can review the information more easily, should you require this.

Can do more explanation than just reading the text. But so far, this is a quick refresher to analysts who are doing project management.

Try connecting the lessons to real life events. Show us the "so what" part. Reading directly from a PPT does nothing.

It was very interesting, I expected it to go more indepth but it does give enough for a foundation and to keep learning and searching more information about it. This is not my last SDLC course and I hope to learn more about it.

The information shared was quite useful. However I would like to have more examples, visuals that go with content (example show how Data flow diagram and Context diagram look like) and that there was quiz (at least one at the end) so I can assess if I have learned something :)

Very good course and very informative. The author is very clear in terms of his voice and the lectures are sweet and small. The course is worth the money spent.(Not to mention, but to say indirectly to the people the course is good) Thanks to Mr Cato for such a good course

I was expecting some tangible connection to the realworld software toolsets that are being organized around SDLC today, not a course centered around project management/workflow. The actual content is well presented and coherent, but not specific to software development life cycle in the real world.

The course was very good, easy to understand. At times, I wanted to go back and review a slide, but the program would not let me do this. Review questions after each major section might be nice to reinforce the knowledge gained.

This course is for real beginners as the title says. It also slightly ignores the testing (verification) phase of SDLC. It covers the so-called waterfall methodology, but it makes no mention of newer approaches such as LEAN development, agile methodologies etc. I can recommend the course, only if you know very little about SW development.

Well, a real on going example explaining the slides would have been better. I dont think reading slides from a powerpoint can be called teaching. This stuff can be found by simply googling the internet.

Looks like the author just read an article on SDLC and made up this course. No real-world cases. Videos are only 1-2 minutes long - there's no sense in breaking them down to that level (only if you want to increase the number of sections).

it provides you with some good information however, it lacks the structure in terms of clear deliverables, roles required, more examples, documents required..

I like that there were very understandable slides. The instructor added information as he went along with each so as to round out the information given. Well worth my time and I did learn a lot. I'd say maybe a handout to print out about the whole process would be a nice bonus to the presented material.

Other than some minor issues with the slides, and duplication of information, the instructor was very engaging and the course was simple and effective particularly for me , not having any prior understanding of this area.

If you want to get an overview of the software development life cycle without getting into the deep details of the process then this is the course for you

Very thorough for an beginner's primer on the topic. He presents slightly different stages of the life cycle than I normally see, but it was informative enough to give you an understanding the concepts.
