OK... a few things about this rating. I put 5 stars because I've learned a ton! I like that he speaks understandably, but one thing that is so annoying is that his mouse disappears and you can't see where he's pointing. Now this may not seem like a big deal...but it is a big deal, because when someone explains something, their mouse points to what they are talking about...and not having a mouse pointer kinda kills that concept. Also... please (and this goes for everyone doing these courses) - please don't fidget and move the boxes left and right and up and down and zoom in and out when you're speaking... this is really annoying. Also... in 6:50/Chapter 8 - he tries to plug "spots" into a blend, but the blend won't take it after because the background was color. He then tried to get a grayscale conversion node...but that didn't work. He never explained why it wasn't working and kinda moved on. This happened a few times, and this is really what I'm trying to learn... why things like this don't work. Also... he keeps saying "Substance Painter" when this is Substance Designer. Yes... I'm being a bit tough, but after 4 or 5 times. lol It's a great course... overall.

This is an amazing course for beginners. I personally am not a beginner, but I did this course to refresh my brain on the concepts of Substance Designer. Although if you are a beginner then you should buy this course. Personally I don't know how much I spent on this course because I bought it a while ago, but it still is very much so a good course for the present day. Although if this course is over 15$ I personally wouldn't buy this course because you only learn how to make one material, but this one material is realistic and it is a very short course. Because it is a 1 - 2 hour course, I wouldn't spend over 15 bucks on this. Other then that everything he explains is very clear and there is no need for the Q&A section because he takes us through the course very well. But that might not be the same for you if you are a complete beginner. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this course for YOU if you want to learn the concepts of Substance Designer. Reminder this course will not make you advanced in Substance Designer, but It is a VERY GOOD start on your journey of a Substance Designer.

EXCELLENT COURSE! - It takes you from knowing nothing to actually using the new material on Substance Painter. The whole process is explained EXTREMLY well.

720p is not crispy enough for this tutorial and the mouse pointer keeps disappearing. Content is helpful but those two things are distracting and making it a bit harder to follow.

Its a great course (so far) I have learnt more in two videos than I did following the adobe dirt texture tutotorial. My only criticism is that I just wish it was recorded in 4K.

Nice, detailed but very short. I would expect at least 2 more examples going through more complex stuff.

This course was very helpful in terms of the concepts of where and when to use certain nodes and reuse of existing nodes. Many tutorials out there show you how to make materials and all of the nodes being used, and they do not explain the reason for their placement in the whole scheme of the graph. I now have a better understanding of what to look for in material creation in SD.

An excellent introduction to Substance Designer. Quite a short course, but it takes you through the basic steps of creating a moderately detailed brick substance at a pace that can be quite easily followed even by a beginner. I would recommend following the advice given by the author, which is to go through the course in its entirety once just watching the lectures, then going back and repeating the lessons, this time following each step in Substance Designer, stopping and restarting as necessary.

Goes through and explains all the basics, a very good starting point. One of the few times I've started a new program and felt I could just experiment comfortably after the course
