This is a well written and presented course which provides a solid introduction to SQL Server performance analysis tools and approaches (and there are many). I'd like to see a more advanced version which looks at real-world issues and provides a triage based approach but I don't see one here on Udemy. I'd like to see a minor update to the course addressing the following: - some chapters addressing performance tuning limitations and challenges with SQL Server on AWS and Azure - less time on SQL profiler as we have better options (which the course identifies) - fix the difference in numbering between the sessions and the supporting file material

The. course I am after is one that helps me understand what all the icons in the sql query optimise are, how they compare with one another and other and when is each the best that can be achieved. I already have an understanding of index and the like at a level offered by the course. So somewhat disappointed as I’m learning very little.

So far the concepts and the lab provided are top-notch. Expecting similar lecture as we go along with the remaining performance tuning concepts.

I think this course is great. It helps developers tremendously when writing queries to generate reports or find issues with long running queries. The instructor is great. It is easy to follow him.

I'm a bit disappointed given the 4.4 course rating although looking through the reviews it seems some other have noticed the same issues as me. The presenter seems knowledgeable but the presentation often seems rushed and unprepared. Every video feels like a one-shot take. I would advise the presenter to slow things down in his future courses as he is often misreading or tripping over his words. It may also help the presenter to run through his slides, sql scripts and narration prior to recording the course to reduce errors/corrections etc. Towards the back end of the course there is also a tendency to read verbatim from slides, which the viewer can do for themselves, usually faster than a presenter can narrate them. For engagement it's much better to talk around bullet points or expand on what is said on the slide. The general course material is good, although as a developer with previous experience I think Part 2 of the course is going to be more relevant. Part 1 is on the whole just explaining the different components of SQL Server that you need to interact with.

Yes, it's really helpful. I'm really thankful to Raphael by the methods & efforts he had made to create such videos. For making we peoples to understand any topic he's everytime starting from the beginning by dropping the previously created table having Index on it, then creating a new, etc...
