In this SQL - Beyond the Basics training course, expert author Guy Vaccaro will dive deeper into SQL and covers advanced techniques. This course is designed for users that already have experience with SQL. You will start by learning a variety of useful skills, including how to convert datatypes, create a temporary table, and declare and use variables. From there, Guy will teach you about sub queries, the CASE statement, and numbering and ranking.

This video tutorial also covers using built in functions, creating and using your own functions, and creating views. Finally, you will learn about stored procedures, such as how to create and run a stored procedure, loop with WHILE and IF, and dynamically build SQL statements. Once you have completed this computer based training course, you will have expanded your skills and be able to make more efficient use of SQL.

The course is not updated. The instructions for installing the program required to go forward in the lesson are not clear and there are no explanations.

This course was a good refresher on some of the more complex concepts that I do not use every day, such as cursors. Whilst it is good to see how to write the code, what would have enhanced the course would be to understand why we would use some of these. For example, in what scenarios would we use ranking. What are the benefits? Overall a decent course which was easy to follow and provided decent examples of writing the code.

AS FOR THE NESTED SUBQUERIES IN THE LAST EXAMPLE, COULD THEY NOT BE ACHIEVED BY JUST STATING THE CONDITIONS WITH A WHERE A CLAUSE

One of the first steps is to initialize a database on your computer. Not much guidance given for that step, and it's not easy on Mac. I would have been happier if they'd given more guidance on how to do that, or if that was something explicit when I paid for the course.

If your job involves SQL (three years for me) and you aren't at expert/guru status, take this course. This stuff is instantly applicable. Might be my favorite UDemy course so far. You have a sample database to follow along with. The guy covers each skill in a succinct ~five min video. I ended buying this after a couple soul draining hours browsing ggl/stackexchange. Answers there were garbage. Solution i found here was that i can put the same Case in my Select and Group By statement. I've probably applied four or five different items at work already

Very helpful information and the course breaks down the content in digestible pieces. The presentation is a bit dry in comparison to the SQL for Newbs training that preceded it so for those who take the basics training before this one, just take note.

I learnt a lot from this course. It based on SQL Server. I mainly use Oracle and others so it will be interesting to see if these techniques/commands are available on those other RDBMS's.

This class is excellent. It covers a lots of useful topics. The examples are easy to follow. Nothing is skipped. Instructor does a good job of making it simple and explains what he is doing and why. I would recommend this class 10/10.

I really enjoyed this course. The instructor definitely has a knack for teaching. There is an amazing amount of content covered; just enough to give you a solid footing with SQL. Highly recommended for those needing to fill in the gaps on their knowledge, or if you're just starting out. It's worth the time and money spent.
