Questions Frequently Asked

What is the CSWA-Simulation Certification?

CSWA stands for Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate. The simulation associate certification is SOLIDWORKS official proof that you are familiar with all the foundational simulation tools to conduct sound analysis. It also proves that you have a good grasp of the capabilities of SOLIDWORKS simulation and an understanding of the Finite Element Analysis theory.

Why should I learn Simulation?

Simulations enable organizations to virtually test their designs before going towards prototyping. It will enable you to optimize your design while you are still working on it virtually. This will enable you to optimize your design for safety and reliability before you even start prototyping. It will save lots of time and money. It also enables the designer to experiment with lots of designs and virtually test them, resulting in optimal end products and avoiding material waste.

How does SOLIDWORKS simulation work?

SOLIDWORKS simulation tool utilizes the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory/method to make all the related calculations in the background. This is a significant reason why being familiar with the FEA method can help understand what the software does in the background. In a nutshell, FEA works by breaking complex structures into smaller elements that can be analyzed one at a time.

What is required to pass the CSWA-simulation certification exam?

To pass the CSWA-simulation exam, you will need to be familiar with the foundational tools and features in the SOLIDWORKS static analysis package. This is in addition to being familiar with the software 3D modeling tools and basic knowledge of engineering principles, including statics, strength of materials, and finite element analysis theory. This course covers the practical usage of the SOLIDWORKS Simulation tool. It DOES NOT cover engineering principles.

What Does This Course Cover?

  1. What is the Finite Element Analysis method and its advantage.

  2. What is the procedure of conducting a static simulation study.

  3. How to load and set up the simulation plug-in.

  4. What is the factor of safety, and how does it impact our designs.

  5. What is the difference between beams, shells, and solids, and how to simulate each?

  6. How to prepare our 3D models for simulation.

  7. What are the different types of fixtures, and how to set them up.

  8. What are the different types of loads, and how to set them up.

  9. What are the different types of contacts, and how to set them up.

  10. How to generate the stress distribution and displacement plots.

  11. How to simulate assemblies and multi-body parts.

  12. How to adjust the mesh density for your simulated models.

  13. How to set up and use adaptive meshing.

  14. How to re-format your plots for better communicative ones.

  15. How to generate XY plots.

  16. How to calculate the reaction forces in different areas of the model.

  17. What is the difference between small and large displacements.

  18. What are the different best practices in conducting simulation.

I was thinking about I will learn multibody simulation in a big assembly (Like more parts which may contain) but there is nothing to watch I know these things earlier

There was little time to see him actually open SolidWorks and demonstrate. For example, in video 65, "Displacements types," he spent a whole video talking about the theory of large and small displacements, which was helpful, I also need to know how it works in SolidWorks. Furthermore, he sometimes explained unnecessary things, such as the "What is an assembly" video. I believe everyone wanting to learn Simulation must have a basic foundation in SolidWorks. What a waste of time! The only reason I stayed in the course for so long was that I was expecting more hands-on practice with SolidWorks, but instead, I got a lot of PowerPoint slides and talking. I gave the course 2 stars because I have learned new things in this course and I am unable to request a refund, as I have "watched too much of this course to request a refund."

I have always felt intimidated by SW simulation. But Tayseer has broken it down into simple and digestible concepts. Looking forward to apply the learning in an effective way to my models and projects.

So I finally finished this course including all the 5 quizzes. I think the instructor did a very good job with the lectures: they were informative, straightforward, and exactly what I needed. The main problems would be communicating design intents in the quizzes. I had to make assumptions here and there to make them work and sometimes getting different results from the answer keys.

Everything is great, no issues with the content itself. However, audio is sometimes inconsistent between sections. For example, the audio is at high volume when the instructor first appears in the shot, then it reduces significantly, making me turn up the volume in those sections. And when it transitions back to a video without the instructor, the audio jumps again to high volume, making me turn down the volume. This is the only nitpick I have regarding this course.

I am already experienced in Autodesk software and bought this course to help me transition to the SolidWorks workflow. As far as my requirements are concerned the course fulfilled its purpose admirably.

Great course! I needed to use simulation for my venture and with this knowledge I can now do the necessary simulations to offer a good product. It helped me a lot to understand concepts that I did not fully understand, but everything was explained very pleasantly and without complications. Thanks a lot.

I feel as though I was mislead into thinking this course would cover all of the material required to pass the CSWA exam. It does not. The final "Congrats" video even tells you that are now at that level. I feel like the course is misguiding people towards going and trying the CSWA exam, which they will fail if they have no other experience.

This course does not explain Simulation in detail and I don't find this course sufficient even for the Associate level exam. I would suggest others to go through other study material as well. I could clear the test only because I answered the theoretical questions correctly otherwise this course is not as good as claimed.
