What is active sitting?

Active sitting is a technique that involves using the muscles in the core, back, and legs to support the body and maintain a healthy, upright position while seated. This can help reduce strain on the lower back and neck and prevent muscle imbalances and other problems that can result from sitting in a static position for extended periods. Some examples of active sitting techniques include sitting on an exercise ball instead of a chair, using a footrest to promote proper leg positioning, and making sure to sit with the feet flat on the ground and the knees bent at a right angle.

By learning and incorporating active sitting techniques into your daily routine, you can improve your posture and reduce the risk of discomfort and other problems associated with prolonged sitting. This can be especially beneficial for people who spend long periods of time sitting or standing in one position, as it can help prevent muscle imbalances and the development of poor posture over time. Additionally, having flexible spinal muscles can improve balance and coordination, which can be beneficial for activities such as sports or other physical pursuits.

I have an office job. Just listening through the introductory video and I am glad I took this course. Nowadays apart from parents, even children spend a lot of time sitting. Their postures get different and they don't realize what its doing to their overall health and confidence. I hope that through this course, I can improve myself and share the same knowledge with my family for a better living methods.

Of what I've been going through this past year this will come in handy for me. I have an elbow operation due to a tare in my elbow and as we are under so much stress at work. I tend to forget to get up more as I spend sometimes hours sitting and working. Especially working from home sometimes.

I got value from this course. It overlapped with exercises, stretches and techniques taught to me by my doctors, but that is fine.

Just started but so far I am very much liking what I am hearing. I was not aware of the BMR, which I found exceptionally interesting. Looking forward to seeing where this one goes!

We take for granted the damage we will be doing to our bodies due to different postures we take our bodies through each day. This has been an eye opener that each part of our bodies needs exercises. Shoulders, neck, back and many other parts. It is my desire that I will implement some of the learnt exercises on a daily basis.

Thank you, Dr. Paula. I've been using Udemy for years, but this is now officially my favorite course because it's life changing. I don't have good posture, I have forward head and I'm very sedentary. This is an eye opener for me. Thank you and God bless! I have followed you as well on youtube.

As far as I remember from university, the 'power pose' study has been debunked. It's the 'closed' pose that has a negative effect on one's appearance and self-confidence, no difference was found between the standard straight pose when compared to the superman-like 'power pose'. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
