Why take this course?

Sinking Funds are used by businesses when they need to accumulate a large amount of capital for use at some point in the future.  This course will introduce you to sinking funds as savings vehicles with the goal of reaching a certain goal at some future point in time.  We will also discuss the details behind the construction of sinking fund schedules.

You will receive a workbook style set of notes to accompany the video lessons.  The course will probably take you 1 - 2 days to complete depending on how much time you devote to it.  You will take this course is you are interested in seeing a real application of annuities in the business world.

The course is structured with a set of lecture notes complete with examples which will be solved with the videotaped lessons.  You will also have access to quizzes at the end of each section along with a summary.

If you are interested in mathematics of finance and would like to study these topics in more depth, then this is an excellent introduction to use of the formulas used with Annuities and how to solve finance problems.

You will be provided with a base set of course notes which you can use while you are watching the videotaped lectures and simultaneously working through the exercises.  The course could take about three to four days to complete but this may vary among different students.

Be sure that you have a financial calculator with you as you are going through the examples. If you do not have such a calculator, a scientific calculator with exponent function and a logarithm function will suffice.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to use the message system to ask!  I am always checking to see how my students are progressing through their courses.
