What you will learn

Participants will learn about the different types of sensors.

Participants will comprehend how sensors can be used within design to help with sustainable design.

Participants will understand the basic way sensors work in order to properly use them in design.

Why take this course?

A sensor is an electronic component or subsystem utilized for detecting modifications or events within its environment. A computer processor is one good example of sensor technology, also touch-sensitive elevator buttons known as tactile sensor. This innovation made a huge impact in the world of information and technology and almost every field or industry is using it for productivity and progress.

This course will talk about sensors and their fundamentals. Technology is not just for the design process, but is becoming an integrative part of Landscape Architecture Design. Sensors represent a tremendous opportunity to augment sustainable design and behavior for environmental monitoring. They can be used for a wide variety of sustainable design uses. This webinar discuses the basics of sensors, how they work, types of sensors, and how they can be used in design.

For me, the course could be improved with a chapter/section on the use of sensors in the developing world.

This was a very interesting course & even opened my mind to how sensors are being used now & how they are integrated into a lot of smart technology. I always looked at sensors in an industrial way as in industry in machinery & basic control system but yes under my very nose sensors are integrated into much more newer & complicated technology. We are entering a new level of technology where everything is being automated & so much data information is being collected & used. This course actually reminds me of a university lecture so was quite well put across & got the mind working, thinking so my 4.5 rating was given. The sound quality was a bit strained & muffled at the start of each presentation also a little more information on the working of the general sensor range like a basic circuit of a temp, light sound or movement sensor would have been really useful & a builder for a project or to go on to further studies. This course has throw a bit of light on my my studies into automation & control & to me very little bit helps as long as the learner is interested. so I will say thank you & keep up the good work.
