Bring Your Character to Life

I have been using the services of Scribble Ink Consultations for over 10 years for helping with improving the quality of my written work. They are an excellent writers programme and this latest edition of Bring your character to life has brought about wonders for the development of my written characters

It has brought out my thoughts about a character that I have thought of vaguely. The person is taking shape and life. Thank you!

I'm a part-time programme manager and mature student who is about to start a creative writing course at college. I wanted to enroll on a Udemy course that would help boost my confidence and get the creative juices flowing. I also wanted to invest in an online course that was flexible and not too time consuming. This course exceeded my expectations! I dedicated half my lunch break during the week to completing the lectures and exercises. I found the resources really helpful and Nadia (the instructor) is very clear and engaging. Some of my work colleagues would take a sneak peak at my computer and ask what I was up to. They all seemed intrigued and for various reasons, appreciate the benefits of creative writing and literacy development. Some of us thinking of enrolling on other Scribble Online courses together and hosting a lunchtime writers' group. This idea would not have come about if I did not enroll in this nano course to begin with. I've certainly enjoyed my time with this, and I love that I can access it as many times as I want (I'll probably use it to help me with college course assignments). I'd recommend Scribble Online to any of my friends or family without hesitation.

This course is actually really fun and insightful! I've created a really interesting character and I can't wait to show her off at my creative writing class next week ;P

I wasn't sure what to expect, having never taken an online course, but I was pleasantly surprised by how provocative this course is. The questions - simple at first, but get progressively challenging - made me think about characters in a more meaningful way than I had before. Perhaps most surprising is that I was expecting a course in fictional character development, but most of the questions in this lesson can and should be applied to characters in nonfictin stories as well. The prompts force you to see a different side of your subject (even yourself, if you're writing personal essay or memoir), allowing you to create a more fully formed, complex, and INTERESTING character for your readers, which I think is especially important in nonfiction -- because wisdom and meaning are found in the details. So yes, I'd say the content is undeniably comprehensive and informative. I thought the instructor's delivery was pleasant and engaging. I felt like she was sitting next to me asking the questions directly to me. The production quality met my expectations, which again were open as I've never taken an online course. I think this platform is pleasant, clean-looking, and easy to navigate. The only critique I have on the videos is that I found the text animations to be distracting. I'd rather see the text appear on screen at the appropriate prompt and stay there for my reference. However, I still gave the course 5 stars, because the content alone - which is the most important aspect of any course - is 5-star content. I would definitely recommend this course to any writer of fiction or nonfiction, whether or not you think you need help with character development. You'll likely find a hidden gem among the questions that will help take your writing up a notch!

A wonderful course which invigorates the imagination to create unique and enriching characters for a range of literary forms. Light and digestible, yet insightful narration, guides you through a series of enjoyable, well-thought tasks, which inspire highly original and beautifully complex creative outcomes.

This lesson helped me to develop my character ideas further for my writing and get the ball rolling! It is also useful for those wanting to write a monologue, poem, short scene, script etc.

I really enjoyed the writing exercise, and I thought the lecture advising on how you can use your work in other creative projects was a nice touch.
