Why take this course?

So you’ve decided to make the jump into web development! Great decision! But where do you start?

In this course we’re going to be looking at how to get you started as a developer. We’ll get you set up with your environment. We’ll explore Sublime Text 3 as an editing tool, and we’ll also take a look at command line, which is a tool we’ll be using a lot as developers. Finally, we’ll also take a look at Git which is version control for our projects - essentially a way to make sure changes are being logged and we have good backup systems for our actual work.

Course Includes:

  • 15 videos with over an hour of lectures and explanations.
  • 10 external resource files.
  • 1 practice exercise to help you master Git workflows.

What You'll Learn:

Command Line - the primary way you'll interact with your project files and development environment.

  • Common Commands

Source Code Control - Git is a popular version / source control and code management system that will allow you to keep track of changes to the code you write.

  • Introduction to Source Control (Git).
  • Learn what Github is and how to use it.
  • Creating your first repository.
  • Pushing your files to Github.
  • Cloning a repository.
  • Updating files.
  • Organizing your files.
  • Additional Git resources.

Chrome Developer Tools - web authoring and debugging tools built into Google's Chrome web browser.

Sublime Text - the application you'll use to write code.

It had a mixture of beginners and intermediate lessons. I would say I would come back to this as a guide. This was great for Mac Computers but unfortunately not so much as Windows Computers. All the resources were great and useful to my ability and glad they are accessible. I hope to continue and keep learning how to create my own website.

I'm using a laptop under Win11 but the tutorials content is using Mac OS. Still a very informative and precise course if anyone would like to get into beginners web dev.

It was very interesting, a very good approach to understand how to use the terminal tools, manage version control, and the browser and text editor tools themselves

Great Course. I love the way it is designed and delivered. I learned a lot. The most important part is that I enjoyed every bit of the session and completed everything in less than a week.

A very experienced and helpful educator. However, the course was more advanced than one would expect for beginners.

It is a good course. This is just the basics. Anyone who wants to just know the basics without paying any money, i think this is the best!!

Concise and onto-point explanations. Almost every short video is informative about useful concepts. Downside: Only covers the very basic fundamentals and nothing more.

Would never recommend this course to anyone. You do not learn much. I have zero background on web development but they keep talking about some rocket science. Luckily it was free.

good work by the instructor to understand the need and produce such a course which can guide us through the beginner's problem.

Pretty good course! Can be a little boring at times but the information is what you want and it was what I was expecting as well! Instructor talks clearly and its easy to follow along! Would recommend for anyone looking to get into web developer that doesn't have a lot of time and money to go to school.

If you don't know already how to work with Git you will not learn from the videos. That comes perfectly clear on some of the questions from the students, as for example: https://www.udemy.com/refactoru-getting-started-as-a-web-developer/learn/v4/questions/387668 https://www.udemy.com/refactoru-getting-started-as-a-web-developer/learn/v4/questions/2780372 https://www.udemy.com/refactoru-getting-started-as-a-web-developer/learn/v4/questions/681954 On the answer to the question on this last link the instructor recommends the student to use Windows PowerShell with some extension, which I believe is not wise for non advanced Windows users.

I was distracted. Sorry, you guys should have gotten a 5 star rating if it wasn't for how monotonous the voice of the speaker was. A little more inflection in the speech pattern would have helped

Well, this course instructor nicely explains. But I think, now this course pretty much outdated. So, there are a lot of new technologies & expect more. It was a lovely time for doing this course. ^_^
