Build an embedded Linux system that runs in Qemu.

Build different types of embedded Linux systems for the Raspberry Pi.

Configure Netbeans for remote development on the Raspberry Pi.

Configure Qt Creator for remote development on the Raspberry Pi.

Why take this course?

Yocto is a software framework for embedded Linux systems.

It is used by the community and the leading industry in embedded systems.

To have Yocto skills is interesting for anyone working with embedded systems.

Yocto supports a number of embedded hardware platforms, like the BeagleBone Black, Raspberry Pi and many others.

The knowledge of building an embedded Linux for the Raspberry Pi can be a starting point for building embedded Linux for any micro controller.

This procedure we're going through is for any Raspberry Pi, but, if you wanna create programs in Qt5, you need to have a Raspberry Pi 3.

Enjoyed the course! Would suggest adding material that describes how Yocto project resources add to the functionality of the base Raspian OS. Was not clear to me how Yocto layers added which functionality (e.g.: GUI, GPIO access).

It was given me a lot of new information. It was a bit complicated in building yocto commands, but good to watch it.

Brilliant tutorial for beginners! I studied Yocto by myself for a few days still couldn't get the idea. After watching this course all things came together. Thanks!

I'm looking at building several different yocto images including raspberry pi, beaglebone, intel-edison and Xilinx Zynq and this may help out in some of the areas I've run into problems.

The course was perfect and was in great detail about basic and it was really helpul in compare to reading official documentation but I also like to know more about customizing yocto images and what else I can do with yocto project.

She don’t not give a lot better f background about the hat bitbqje was and what it was actually doing nor the actual Architecture of yocto and why it was created.

Well explained, and I like the fact that I can download the ready-made images and test them before I make them by myself. This helps to understand how it should work when its ready.

till its average. It will be more helpful, to give little elaborate description about yocto and build system before entering into the course

The start of the course was good. But, it's explain in details like how to use recipe, bbclass. We have some example on bitbake image but I try to create my custom image and don't know where to start even after viewing the videos.

I rate this course quite low, because list of instructions not actual. In my case I was unable to build qt5-basic-image and all next images. I will try again and again, but looks like morty branch, used in course, is outdated and not suitable. From other I found some useful commands and instructions, regarding usage of GPIO commands.

There are a number of useful items/topics in this course and it gives a very high-level overview of how to get going. I was somewhat familiar with Yocto and embedded Linux, but was hoping for more depth. Decent, but not extensive, examples for image creation and developing applications for RPi. Should likely have include more explanation about bitbake, poky, toolchain creation and cross compiling, but still OK to get started. Would like to have seen a remote debugging session. Other more extensive content would include creation of drivers and inclusion in the Yocto build, etc. Some items are very quickly mentioned but not explained such as setting up a toolchain and kit in Qt Creator. This is an extensive topic that I'd really like to see more of...

Could be interesting for some beginner. If you want to use Yocto in real environ you will need much more than this course.
