Why take this course?

Let’s be clear: it’s stressful to ask for a raise or a promotion. But most of the time, if you are going to get one, you *do* need to ask. In this course, Dorie Clark – a Duke University executive education professor and author of the Wall Street Journal bestseller The Long Game – will show you concrete strategies and scripts to arm you for this tricky, but important, conversation.

We will discuss how to begin the conversation, the timing of when to ask, and how to talk about your results without appearing greedy or aggressive. We will also cover how to effectively research what your request should be, how to lay the groundwork with your boss so they’re maximally receptive, and what to do if you get turned down – including how to turn that situation to your advantage.

You deserve to feel happy, engaged, and fulfilled at work – but that’s only going to happen if you feel like you’re being treated fairly and rewarded appropriately. When you’re comfortable knowing your value – and asking for it – you’re far more likely to earn what you deserve and have a title that reflects your full contribution. This course will empower you to get there.

It's a good match for me. It makes me consider the first question, am I worth this raise? If I would be my boss, what would I say? Very inspiring teacher.

I have never asked for any promotion or salary hike in past. For the first time in my carrier I am planning for doing so. Before start working on this, thought of going through this training and now trying to absorb as much as possible.

I agree, promotion should not be justified with personal life rather based on contribution made to the organization development.

This short training is trying to summarize the alpha and omega of career and salary progressions through thumb rules in a very simple way. I find it both short enough and effective.

Although much of the content was well known to me, it's always great to have a brief refresher on the topics. I found the presentation to be just brief enough to be engaging and not too long to bore, so well done on serving the portion just right.
