Why take this course?

During my more than 10 years of experience in the area of Data Analysis & Business Intelligence, I see people feel not comfortable when they move from SQL track to Power BI DAX. People who have experience with SSRS reporting services and if they want to learn what will be the equivalent of SQL in DAX, this course will help you understand Power BI DAX in a very easy step by step approach.

The explanations and videos are straightforward, no more no less. It demonstrates the procedure right away, well recommended.

Good course, and I appreciate the SQL then DAX. The only detractor is that last lesson, while super interesting, unnecessarily complex and disjointed. Also, would have been helpful for a review or summary for each section and course. These are criticisms to improve a good course, and if you know SQL but just starting your journey with PowerBI/DAX I highly recommend it!

The content of the course is good and as expected. The sound is terrible and would have been nice to get "final" code for the SQL and DAX.

The premise of this course is fantastic for someone used to SQL and wanting to translate it into DAX. The sections cover these offer. Where it is let down is in both the silly mistakes in typing, errors in execution and saying the wrong column names when typing something different. I would also expect some more time spent on why the specific DAX functions are used and the values as they are glossed over rather than explaining their benefit, as well as what is trying to be achieved. Just re-recording it with more comfort in the material and being more prepared would quickly improve this course and remove the issues that distract from the teaching. Adding the explanations would propel it to a must do course. And a cheat handout at the end would be the cherry on the top. A great first attempt.

If you are coming from SQL Server and need to learn about Table Expressions in DAX this is a good course. I didn't give it 5 stars because the author wastes a lot of time typing the code. On top of that, the code is a bit messy for my taste: no indentations, uppercase, lowercase, extra spaces... Also, the author spends more time explaining the SQL queries than the DAX code. A little bit more of DAX theory and organization would have made this course much better. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to learn from these lessons, recommended!
