I enjoyed working in this pixel course and learn more skills and information about creating and animating pixel art. This is a good simple course for beginners.

As of now, I am learning ALOT of stuff. I am only at lesson 16 but for someone who lacks artistic talent, this is giving me a good framework to build off of to make my own 2D pixel assets to make for my own games which is AWESOME!! I would say maybe a few video tutorials practicing making different head shapes or body types would be a great addition to this course! But overall worth it

Introductory course on creating characters in pixel art. The lessons really start from the basics but get to touch interesting topics such as animations and smearing frames. Some lessons are very short (perhaps a little too tight) but it's up to you to complete all the challenges and put the effort into learning.

I took both of Reece's courses. The course itself is instructive as per the description, however, I have two points that I did not quite like. I think the course is only for beginners. The other thing that bothered me a bit were the assignments. Don't get me wrong, I love exactly such tasks in Udemy, because you can learn a lot. But the tasks seemed monotonous besides a few changed factors. For example, take the mage you just created and make him a fire mage. Ok.... next task take this knight and make it an ice knight. For the most part, you only had to change the color palette from red to blue. However, I would like to emphasize that the basics were discussed more than sufficiently and were also easy to understand. I think beginners will benefit from such a course. Again a small conclusion at the end: I am a big fan of the Gamedev.tv courses and I like to spend money on them. This course itself is well thought out for beginners, but advanced artists are left a bit empty-handed. I think if they would add a challenge or two and make the tasks more difficult, the issue would be fixed. I'm looking forward to another course from Reece, if another one is released. :)

Enjoyed the course. I recommend it to beginners but it won't be enough for the general character creation topic all by itself. Way too simple than I expected. Worth my time for couple of tricks for animation but nothing special about the creative and artistic parts. Portraiths were weak.

While I might still use GIMP in most stuff, it's nice to know there are things with LibreSprite I could use as well. I might be able to use both tools to help things out in this course. I kinda like that sprite size tool to go between art and game sprites.

Excellent course. The characters designed are very useful and adaptable to creating characters for your own games. Also, it's short enough that you can watch it several times to increase the learning experience.

Excellent course, very engaging teacher and easy to follow. I do recommend this course if you are interested in creating pixel/sprite artwork.
