What you will learn

Common control langauge.

How to design a PID controller in software.

What components of a PID controller should be used for various environments/problems.

Why take this course?

In this course you'll learn how to implement a PID controller in software. You will understand when the Proportional, Integral, and Derivative components of the controller should and shouldn't be used.

The physics of an elevator are simulated to allow you the opportunity to write control software and see how it performs. The simulator will also give you hands on experience with debugging and tuning a controller, two very important aspects for a real system.

Some of the explanations are good and other times not so much. Since my level of python code is limited at this time, some better explanation of the code would have been helpful. I'll defer further comment until the end of the course.

Very good course for an intro to PID control, precise and succinct. That being said I do want to have more examples and assignment, maybe not just elevator problem.

This course is exactly what i was looking for - enough but not too much theory, and clear details of how to apply to real life systems. But note that you must know basic python programming.

It could be easy a 5 star course, if it would iclude more explanations to all coding lines and more assigments.

Thank you Daniel. I learned a lot. The material was laid out well and the concepts and explanations progressed and built on each other.

Instructor knowledgeable, but I had a hard time understanding the lectures (cross between too much and too little) and assignments could have been better.

For me, personally any beginner's course becomes understandable, when it goes from simple to more complicated with many examples and explanations. Unfortunately it did not happened in this course for me. I felt more like listening presentation at some conference addressed to experienced audience than teaching materials for the beginners which ended with little use.

This section contained just the amount of physics refresher that I needed. It allowed me to tinker with variables of the theoretical model via the simulation package.

He goes in a good pace and He talks very clear. Although he hasn't explained any new to me he engaged me the way he explains.

This course provides a very good overview about how to apply a PID controller to a problem in the real world given that you have previous knowledge on control theory. The simulator used in the course is a superb tool to learn how to control the elevator. In my opinion, the course could dig a little deeper on the mathematical modeling of the system for completeness.

Incredible and enlightening course as 4th engineering year student I say I learned from this course better than some of my engineering classes. Very engaging and cool project. One tiny thing if the codes will be available in PDF format or included in the GitHub file that will be amazing so I can see the solution in front of me. Anyways, great course!

This is a thoroughly and carefully made course about PID control. It provides a simulator written in Python (by the way, a very good implementation). Daniel speaks very clearly and provides a lot of practical information about PID control and also pros and cons using the different components. With the provided elevator simulator it‘s very easy to see the result immediately as he also provides some assessments. I like the Python approach, because this way it‘s easy to implement PID control with a microcontroller or a even a Raspberry PI/BeagleBone etc. I like his teaching style very much, so I highly recommend this course. I hope he continues with a Model Predictive Control course and I definitely would buy it. Thank you!

A very well put together. Please add some graphics to explain concepts. Looking forward to learn more from you.

Very friendly, explained maths to support subject matter very clearly. Will need some basic required Python coding experience. Though a hard subject to condense in a short course, this instructor did a very thorough job of explaining without getting wordy. I look forward to his future MPC course and will be taking ALL Control Courses he puts out.
