Description

Welcome to this Real Application Cluster couse

During these moments that we spend together, I have only one goal, that you enjoy setting a professional high-tech environment. Grid Infrastructure 12c, data base 11gR2 both products were installed in graphic and silent mode.

All these products involve the execution of different tasks defined below.

The course have been produced with videos, you'll also listen my voice. I will give all explanations and examples relevant to the successfull anderstanding of this course.

In addition, I will make available the "roadmap" that I used throughout the course with all the querys and operating system commands, this way you can use it to copy and paste into your environment.

The course is about 4 hours and you'll find the following chapters:

1 Installation and setting of Oracle VirtualBox, creation of RAC1 Virtual Machine (VM)

2 Installation of Oracle linux 64 bits operating system

3 Setting network cards and the /etc/hosts file

4 Tune RAC1 with yum: Kernel parameters, packages dependencies, user and groups

5 Clone RAC1 to RAC2, the second node of our Oracle RAC cluster

6 Creation of the shared disks from virtual box and present them to both racs

7 Creation of ASM disk for subsequent creation of diskgroups

8 Installation of the binaries GI 12c

Set the ssh connectivity between node 1 and node 2

Run runcluvfy to get all the check results

At this step if all is good, you have your first cluster 12c !

9 Installation of GI 12c silent mode

10 Installing Oracle 11gR2 binaries (graphic and silent)

11 Creating Database 11gR2 data (graphic and silent)

12 Learn all the command available to manage your cluster

With this course, you have in your hand a powerful environment, created with the last version of Oracle products and for a very low cost. You can simulate a production environment at home with your personal computer.

There were no resources to be printed, etc. It is extremely difficult and time consuming to constantly pause the video and try to write down the commands.

I enjoyed it very much. At the beginning I couldn’t see the top of the screen but loved the hands on instead of all textbook. Thank you.

The course is little disorganized, but has a lot of detail which is very helpful. Very useful for getting insight into RAC

Because the trainer is explaining so slow all the basic things (like the prerequisites of the installation, the virtualizator, etc), he should go faster to the main point of what we need to install it and how to do it.

This was a good course, I enjoyed it a lot. There are some problems with the course material, but with a bit of troubleshooting you can work your way around it. I also appreciated the authors sharing of tips and best practices throughout the course.

Few things were missing like 1. how the response file was created 2. voting disk creation (dgroup was missing why) 3. you have used the yum utility but in professional env. the boxes are not connected to internet, however I do understand that this a demo on a laptop. I would say till now it's quite good :) thanks

Hola Luis: I would like to thank you for putting this course together. I know I still have a long way to becoming a very knowledgeable RAC administrator, but your course has helped me build my first RAC. I built a two-node RAC environment following your lectures. I tweaked it a little bit by adding a +FRA disk group to my test environment. Besides learning how to put my first RAC together, I also learned how to do silent-mode installations. This is something I did not know how to do before, but I was curious on how to do it. With your instructions, I learned it. Once again, I thank you very much for this content. I wish you put more of these advanced courses together in the future. I registered for your course on Data Guard. I look forward to having the same good experience I had with this RAC course in the Data Guard course. I recommend this course to anyone who is willing to build a good foundation on RAC. Muchas gracias Luis.

I have seen several efforts to teach this course but none compares to the high level of knowledge and depth of explanation of concepts that are fuzzy and making them easy to grasp. I will certainly look out for other topics that this instructor may have. kudos Sir !!!

Author makes assumptions about certain things like Putty. A person like me who is leaning RAC for the first time should get the complete knowledge about all the utilities used. Will not recommend to anyone.
